OK, from what I can see from following this post, my thinking is that the Macros you want to use are out of date, in that these macros have not been updated to the current version of e-Sword, and the latest version of Microsoft Word. The last update of the macros was way back in 2019 - Two years ago.
So, guess what?
These macros are incompatible to the current version of e-Sword and MS Word.
Now, I hope that I am wrong. In fact I want to be wrong. So, could someone make me wrong please. (That's me praying to be wrong).
Blessings,

I just installed the appropriate macro for my version of MS Word, which is MS Word 2010. It works without issue. I see the four icons in the Add-ins tab. Tried each one of them and all function.
One setting to investigate in MS Word would be in Options -> Trust Center -> Trust Center Settings, button. Investigate your settings for Add-ins, ActiveX Settings, Macro Settings, to see if there is a setting disabling your macros.

Hi Jon,
Well mate, going by this, I could be wrong. Lets hope that you are right so that I could be finally proven wrong on this.
Still praying to be proven wrong. I really, really, really, really (oh blow it, one more), really want to be wrong on this.
Blessings,

Please interrogate your Office application, to see if that has been updated. For example, open Word, and open a new document, then select File, Accounts, Office Updates. Check for Updates. This page will also indicate which package of Office you have installed, and the latest update which you updated. Expect there to be updates approximately every month or two. Microsoft is trying its best to try to keep nasty international hackers out of your files.
After update check the options for straight quotes and smart quotes, and that your files are still going where you expect them to go. Check for File, Info, Options, Proofing, Autocorrect options.
Also quickly look through all the File Info Word Options, to find what new ones now occur. I do not know the Add-Ons options - you may have to investigate these further.
Please interrogate your PC and see which operating system it is running, whether (64-bit) or (32-bit), and the amount of gigabyte RAM Memory which you have installed on the PC. If this is too small, then you will experience problems, because the PC can only do one process at a time, and continuously swaps open items into and out of working memory, depending on how busy you are with some or other task. If your disk drive is getting too full, then you will also need to make alternative arrangements.
Please interrogate your PC and understand its limitations. There are many helpful writers on the internet - if they use non-English grammar, and spelling errors, then expect them to be hackers from China, and exit their options, and look for something more reliable. View your manufacturers website for additional helpful information.
After having loaded a system update, after that has installed, and you ask for windows update three time with nothing still downloading, and with nothing still installing, then RESTART your PC to clear active tasks in memory. If you have uninstalled something, RESTART your PC, to clear active tasks which are still in memory. After you have uploaded and installed a new module, RESTART your PC to clear old items out of memory, and to refresh your PC memory with the new parameters. You will find the RESTART option by looking for the POWER option, where the RESTART option has been located.
Please make use of .support.microsoft.com for all your queries dealing with Microsoft operating system. If you encounter a spelling error, report it immediately, please. Please read: https://support.micr...fe-6c6f49b8d261

I discovered that with my Microsoft keyboard, on an Allinone HP desktop (out of warrantee after one year), I can see the operating system in Windows 11, using the Windows logo key + the Pause key. Some keyboards need Windows logo key + Fn + Pause. Some keyboards do not have the Pause key.
Then please take your queries, together with what you discovered, to Rick Meyers, and request his assistance. you will find him on https://www.e-sword.net/feedback.html or write to rick@e-sword.net with your details.

Checked September 2022.
If you access https://www.e-sword.net/extras.html you will see that Rick Meyers, the developer of e-Sword for Windows, has added a comment in RED letters:
MICROSOFT WORD MACROS
If you use Microsoft Word for your sermon preparation (instead of the really cool Topic Notes editor in e-Sword), then maybe the following template will make searching and inserting Scripture easier for you. Taking advantage of the latest in Active-X technology these e-Sword macros give you all of the capability of e-Sword's Search and Copy functions. Now there is no reason to switch back and forth between applications, and "cut-and-paste".
Please note that these macros only work on 32-bit versions of Word!
Active X has been deprecated because of security problems.
