I've used e-Sword & Word for years, including the macros for Word.  I got another laptop, installed e-Sword, downloaded/installed the macros...they don't work. I have the "Add-ins" toolbar in Word, and there's a box where the macros should be, but it's blank.  If I hover the mouse over the box, the names of the macros show, but nothing happens when I click there. they're also in the list of macros in the "View" ribbon, but nothing happens when I select them & click "Run". 

 

I turned off antivirus & firewall & downloaded/installed again, but no change.

I fixed a similar problem by uninstalling Office 64-bit and then installing Office 32-bit.

It appears that the macros are written for the 32 bit edition of Microsoft Word, and so with that one would definitely have compatibility  issues if trying to run them in the 64 bit edition of Microsoft Word.

No, that didn't work.

 

I did have the 64 bit version (don't know why).  I uninstalled it, then installed the 32 bit version.  The macros didn't work. I uninstalled them, downloaded and installed again--still don't work.

 

The suggestion made sense, but I don't think it was the answer.

 

I need to amend that.  The symbols on the icons are missing, but the buttons work. If I hover over them, the description pops up and I can click on them, then they work.

For those of us who work with translating into other languages, the macros WAS a very helpful tool to streamline the process. You can always count on Microsoft to kill a good thing.

The macro does work. I have Microsoft Office 365 Home and installed the latest version of eSword (11-0-6) and the latest micro. I have had no problems whatsoever. I must say that I did uninstall the previous version. I too could not do without this macro. I am using it constantly.

Hello Pcjmme,

 

I have Windows 10 Pro (64-bit) with Microsoft Office 365. I used to work with eSword 10 (version 1040) using 2013 macros. I updated to the latest eSword 12 recently and noticed that 2013 micros no longer worked. I have therefore uninstalled the 2013 macros.

 

Please note upon uninstalling, there will still remain a file in the eSword folder found in c: Program files (x86) e-sword, this file is a "script"  - you MUST delete this. It will be the only item in the e-sword folder so you really cannot miss it. But please note you can only delete this script after rebooting your PC soon after uninstalling the macros. If you try to delete the script after uninstalling the Macros, your system will tell you the file is in use and you won't be able to delete it.

 

Therefore, once you have uninstalled your Macros, restart your PC and go to:

 

c: Program files (x86) e-sword folder; delete the script that is in there -- again there will only be 1 item in the folder so you cannot miss it.

 

Once deleted, install the newest version of the Macros found:

 

https://www.e-sword.net/extras.html e-Sword Macros v.12.0.0 (for Microsoft Word  16.0/2016) and it will reinstall the "a new" script.

 

and I can guarantee it will work. I had this problem before and I can assure it does work well with the newest Office 365.

 

Try to uninstall your current Macros (even if it is the latest) and REMOVE the script as described above, then reinstall the Macros.
