Hello!

Is there any way to convert HTML e-Sword modules to the old format? Currently it is easy to convert old-format modules to theWord (using TW's conversion utility), but (unless I am missing something!) I don't see how to convert HTML modules to theWord.

Or is there a way to convert HTML modules to MySword? And the main issue I have there is the Strong's conversion (i.e., [H100]) and Bible references to something recognized by MySword. I can do it manually but that is VERY tedious!

Thanks for any response.

There is a way to do both conversions:

To convert from one E-Sword format to the other you will need to use E-Sword Tooltip which is the module creation tool for E-Sword.

The html module format is not really a new format as it existed as the module format used on the Apple and Ipad versions of e-Sword. Modules created using the Apple format have file extensions that end in the letter "i" such as bbli for bibles, cmti for commentaries, dcti for dictionaries. E-Sword for Windows computers uses modules that end in the letter "x" such as bblx for bibles, cmtx for commentaries etc. Starting with the release of E-Sword 11 for windows the program can now use both Windows and Apple formatted modules.

E-Sword Tooltip can create modules in both format and it can also read and open both module formats. You can also use Tooltip to convert between the module formats by so you will need to open the module in question in Tooltip and then save using the non html format. When you open a module in Tooltip, there important information at the very top of the module that sets the module parameters so Tooltip can process the module correctly.

For a bible module for the Windows version of E-Sword the parameters look like this:

#define description=DESC

#define abbreviation=ABBR

#define comments=CMTS

#define version=3

#define strong=0

#define right2left=0

#define ot=0

#define nt=1

#define font=DEFAULT

#define apocrypha=0

÷

For an Apple/html module here are the parameters:

#define title=TITLE

#define abbreviation=ABBR

#define information=Enter Info Here

#define ot=1

#define nt=1

#define apocrypha=0

#define strong=0

#define versionHD=4

÷

With the module you want to convert opened in Tooltip you can do a simple cut and paste replacement of the parameters replacing the Apple/html parameters with the Windows version parameters. In the windows parameters you need to fill in information for the description of the module and the abbreviation for the module which is used as the modules tab in the windows version of E-Sword.

Once the parameters are correctly set, you will then save the module in the older bblx format. This is accomplished using e-Sword Tooltip you will do the following:

Using the Tooltip menu select Modules
From the modules menu select Bible which will open the Bible options menu
From the bible options menu select Save Bible File book chap:verse
A window will open showing you where the new module will be saved and you will name the module and then click save

Tooltip will the generate the bblx formatted module.

Now to convert the e-Sword module to Mysword will require the use of a second programmed called Simple Bible Reader. Simple Bible Reader can read and open a large number of modules from a number of different bible programs and convert modules from one program to others. Unfortunately in cannot read the Apple/html formatted modules for e_Sword this why I provided the information above about using E-Sword Tooltip to do the e-Sword module format conversion.  Simple Bible Reader will be able to read the bblx formatted module you create using Tooltip and and convert it into a mysword module

You can download Tooltip from this site:
