Hi,

Every time I press Enter when searching the Bible, an annoying Windows system "ding" sound rings at maximum volume.  It's really irritating and distracting and makes me feel like I'm making a mistake by studying the Bible.

Version 11.1.0

Windows 10

Is there a way to turn this off?  E-Sword doesn't show up in the volume mixer on my sound system, so I can't mute it without muting my whole computer.

Thanks,

Brian

Click on the search icon instead of using the Enter button. The search is on the right side and looks like binoculars.

You're a genius!  It works.

I just wish the Enter key worked, too (without a ding).  I have used the Enter key on all previous versions of e-sword since like 2005.  Old habits...

I know that your question was posted a while ago, but I found a better solution. Do the following:

1) Open "Sound Settings"

2) Find and click on "Sound Control Panel"

3) In the popup window click on the "Sounds" tab at the top

4) Under "Program Events" scroll down and click on Default Beep

5) Select the dropdown menu under "Sounds at the bottom of the window. Scroll to the top and select (None).

6) Click Apply

The sound no longer occurs after a search in e-Sword. This may disable the sound for other things as well, so be aware of that. But at least now you can search AND use the enter key without that annoying ding.

I have the same thing. It seems to be a Win 10 issue as far as I can tell. Sincerely in Christ, ****
