Is The Numeric New Testament Open Domain?

Are there any restrictions on using it and making the content public?

Thanks for being there : )

May God change our hearts to what the truth is

2Ti_2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

Rom_9:16 So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy.

2Ti 2:24-25  And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient, In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;

It is available but it is full of errors. One small example is the colon that should be before a word to indicate an article is incorrectly at the end of the preceding word.  Can you tell me if it is open domain?  If I wish to share things out of it and it is protected then the rules are different than if I can use it freely and not worry about it.  Thank you : )

Colon "errors" are also in the PDF and used for footnotes or word counting.

It is not in the "Public Domain" and you need permission to change or just sent a list of the errors to the website.

Keep in your mind that the Greek source of or the New Testament "Numeric Greek New Testament" is something between Westcott and Hort and Nestle 1904.

So for "translation errors" most you look to source if there are textual variants.

We have copyrighted this in this way because dishonest people have in the past used Ivan Panin's figures while deleting his findings in order to prove an inferior version. Also, it cannot be stolen from us for the purpose of enriching a few and shutting us out. Anyone may copy this book in full and give it to multitudes. We plan to publish it and make it widely available in the online stores at the lowest price they will permit. What little we do make will be used to bulk print them and give them away -- so we will make no profit.

A PD work can only be copyrighted under a revision.  Changing a few things here an there or digitizing it does not remove its PD status.  Many people are under that impression I scanned it or clean it up so its mine.  You also see that on google when they say there PDF and Text are there property as well as some PDF's in the archive.org w. MS watermark.  It doesn't mean a hill of beans..  Ask for proof that's its copyrighted.  I did that w. Dabar.org on Hodge sys theo.

Based on his edition of the Greek text, Panin translated the New Testament into English,The New Testament from the Greek as Established by Bible Numerics (New Haven, CT, 1914). This was followed in 1935 by a "Second Edition, Revised".[1]

Its before 1923 so its in PD but someone would have to check and see the 2nd ed, wz copyrighted.

MICHAEL

Michael, thanks so much for the help. We're talking apples and apples. I understand the difference between making a copy of something and copyrighting your version of it and owning the original copyright.  A bit like writing a chemistry book with the periodic table in it. Your book with the periodic table is copyrighted by you and my book with the periodic table is mine.  UBM can copyright anything they want if it's their own work but that doesn't affect my interest in wanting to do a similar work and copyrighting my version.  Any suggestions on how to research the second edition?  I'm new at it and want to focus on using it.  UBM would have had to know it's open domain before they could do anything with it. If they have a free copy, who would pay for it?  Nice going on their part, but I have other interests.  Why stifle creativity, or inspiration? I would think the more the merrier. Why limit God rather than help others mature a good value?

I found this on one site regarding a 2017 version: This edition is taken from the 4th printing (1954 printed in Great Britain, Book Society of Canada) of his 1935 revision of his 1914 English translation, and includes both the Preface and the Preface to the Second Edition found in that copy.

The plot thickens.

I'm working on catching up to you : )

I downloaded the 1935 U.S. copyright renewal records but haven't searched them yet.  Probably tonight.  Sounds like you suggested the right place to look.  I'm excited!
