Philippians 4:6-7 (KJV)
6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. 7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Installs, then just hangs on the splash screen with the program at in the background. Task Manager seems to indicate it's using a big chunk of cpu, and that there is a second window open. Just to rule out the possibility, is there an entry in a config file somewhere that will allow me to "untick" the tip window that usually opens with eSword?

Tried repairing, reinstalling, a restart, etc. It's running fine on my desktop pc and laptop, but being temperamental on my Windows Tablet. All of them are running Windows 10 (desktop with insider preview) and up to date with plenty of RAM, etc.

Amy ideas, or are any having a similar issue?

Okay, uninstalled and tried installing the previous 11.06 but that is doing the same thing. Looks like I'll have to track down a rogue system file/setting that was corrupted while downloading or installing 11.1.

Here is something to try:

Uninstall E-Sword after completing the uninstall check for the following folders on your PC:

1.Program Files\e-Sword or Program Files (x86)\e-Sword, this is the e-sword program folder where e-Sword and all of modules are installed

2. Documents\e-Sword, this folder installs with e-Sword and contains some important files related to e-Sword.

If these folders are still on you PC after you perform the uninstall look in them and see what they contain, then manually delete both of them.

After deleting the folders, try another install of e-Sword and see what happens

Thank you for your advice. This was a good suggestion and one I hadn't tried, but didn't fix this particular problem.

The problem was fixed by removing all of e-sword's registry entries, which I was surprised to see considering the program had been uninstalled already. After this it installed and ran as it had in the past. This developer 'untidiness' has given me an insight on perhaps why a relatively straightforward database system demands so much resources and performs a little more slowly when compared to much larger-scale databases.

When it comes to clearing the Registry, a good program I use is CCleaner, of which I recommend it. I also do a search in the Registry for any instances of an uninstalled program and then delete all references to them. After that, I reboot my computer.

I have done this from the day days of Windows 95. And when it comes to e-Sword, giving the Registry from time to time, really does make a difference  the program.

Is there a place on this forum for feature requests?

(a decent bookmarking method in a window; a toggle to show all commentary of verses underneath each other; a toggle to show complete book instead of a single chapter)

Thanks  and blessings

With regards to bookmarking you can use the bookmarks in the bible window or you can use the verse list option which will open new window called "Verse List" with this window you can easily create a list of important verses for future reference.

Commentary files are created using e-Sword Tooltip and can be configured to display comments in 3 specific ways; Full Book, Full Chapter or by individual verse. e-Sword has 3 little buttons in the commentary window labeled "B" for book "C" for chapter and "V" for verse, the functionality of these buttons depends on the layout of the commentary file.

As for your last feature request I assume you want to display an entire bible book instead of the standard one chapter at time, this would require some major reprogramming of both e-Sword and e-Sword Tooltip as bible modules are created using e-Sword tooltip. What you want would require more than just a simple toggle it would require new specifications within e-Sword tooltip.
