File Name: International Critical Commentary NT

File Submitter: pfpeller

File Submitted: 30 Aug 2011

File Category: Commentaries

e-Sword Version: 9.x - 10.x

I did a search in the Stanford and Rutgers databases and I cannot find any copyright issues with any of these volumes. Most of them are available at archive.org.

The commentary includes the following volumes:
A Critical and Exegetical Commentary on the Gospel of Matthew by Willoughby C Allen (1907)
A Critical and Exegetical Commentary on the Gospel of Mark by Ezra P. Gould (1922)
A Critical and Exegetical Commentary on the Gospel of Luke by Alfred Plummer (1896)
A Critical and Exegetical Commentary on the Gospel of John (2 Volumes) by J.H. Bernard (1929)
A Critical and Exegetical Commentary on the Epistle to the Romans by the Rev. William Sanday (1897)
A Critical and Exegetical Commentary on the Epistle on 1 Corinthians by Archibald Robertson (1911)
A Critical and Exegetical Commentary on the Epistle on 2 Corinthians by Alfred Plummer (1915)
A Critical and Exegetical Commentary on the Epistle to the Galations by Ernest DeWitt Burton (1920)
A Critical and Exegetical Commentary on the Epistles of Ephesians and to the Collossians by Thomas Kingsmil Abbott (1909)
Note: Missing Ephesians 1
A Critical and Exegetical Commentary on the Epistle to the Phillipians by Marvin Richardson Vincent (1897)
A Critical and Exegetical Commentary on the Epistles of St. Paul to the Thesalonians by James Everett Frame (1912)
A Critical and Exegetical Commentary on the Epistles on the Pastoral Epistles by the Rev. Walter Lock (1924)
A Critical and Exegetical Commentary on the Epistle to the Hebrews by James Moffat (1924)
A Critical and Exegetical Commentary on James by James Hardy Ropes (1916)
A Critical and Exegetical Commentary on 1,2, 3 John Rev. Canon A. E. Brooke, D.D. (1912)

Thankyou for adding some excellent scholarly works to this program platform. I am new to e-sword and am encouraged by the quality books produced here.

Could you also consider adding the ICC Old Testament modules, please. The pdf's are also available at archive.com.

I am a little surprised that you note that Ephesians 1 is missing. I downloaded the pdf from archive.com and the contents seem fine.

archive.com does have the following commentaries that are not in your set:

Revelation of St. John (R H Charles) - see link http://www.archive.o...TestamentsCecEd for the pdf. It is no.19 on the list. I have downloaded the pdf from this page and it looks fine.

This link also has a pdf listed with your missing Ephesians 1 text (as you quoted above). Would be great if you could revise your e-sword file to complete this (see last 'PDF with Text' file (28.0M file size) on the 'view the book menu').

Epistle of St. James (J R Ropes) - This one is miss-labelled above as Hebrews (same author).

Further comment - Have you thought about including the book introductions as a separate .topx module(s)? The introductions in each of the ICC commentaries give important background info. to the actual commentaries themselves. It would be a shame if this was missed, as these notes (which discuss the background settings, exegetical issues, etc.) pre-curser the commentaries.

Thank-you so much for making the ICCNT available for e-sword. I downloaded it but it has a problem. None of the Greek is Greek;  every word is the letter u-followed by a bunch of numbers. In all my other commentaries the Greek is fine. Does anybody know what the problem is, or how I can fix it?  I have e-sword 10.4 and my OS is Windows XP.  Thanks

This is my favorite Commentary, it has much more information on sentence structure in the Greek than any of the other commentaries I have seen. But it does not display right, the sentences are mixed up. I downloaded a free bible program that had the ICCNT so I could use it in my Bible studies, I copy and paste from The Word bible program into my e-Sword Study Notes section so that I can read it in order rather than trying to figure out where the rest of the sentence went.
