I just airdropped my e-sword notes from my Mac computer to my wife's iPad and it overwrote and erased the last two years of notes from her iPad. All she has now are the notes I sent from the Mac. How do we recover her notes on the iPad. I would not have airdropped to the iPad if I had known it was going to do this.

If you have a backup of those notes, then you shouldn't have a problem. So I'll ask the obvious dumb question:- Do you have backup of those notes?

In Windows you can right-click a file and then choose "restore previous version." That typically allows you to revert that file back to a previous date. It is very useful for exactly this kind of accident. While I am unfamiliar with Apple software, perhaps there is some kind of maneuver like this in the Apple OS?

I had my notes backed up to my email account, but not hers. I mistakenly thought I was going to join our notes together like I usually do with other items and then back them all up. There was no warning beforehand that it would overwrite everything. When I airdrop groups of photos to my iPad or groups of notes to the apple note taker, I've never had it overwrite anything. It's a shame that I was able to wipe out over two years of notes in half a second with no warning.

I thought I had responded already but I do not see my post.

Here is a page on Apples site about retrieving backups.

Depending on how you have things set up you "may" be able to retrieve a backup from the cloud. (Apple tends to do this kind of thing automatically for users).

It's a chance anyway.
