I have upgraded to Windows 10 recently and e-Sword (10.4) was working fine for a few weeks after I have done my upgrade. But for some reason or other the program started acting strangely whenever I click on the e-Sword icon to open the program.  A small window with "e-Sword" in the top left corner, a red cross and a zero in the middle and "OK" at the bottom right appears (see attached screenshot), and re-appears for about 6 times, every time after the "OK" button is pressed.  Only then does the program open and I can carry on working in it. Very frustrating!  Can anyone help me out here?  I have already reinstalled e-Sword, run the program as administrator, run the program in compatibility mode with previous versions, all with no success.

My first suggestion would be to backup all the contents of your C:\Program Files (x86)\e-Sword folder to external media, *especially* any purchased Bibles, commentaries, etc. It wouldn't hurt to also backup the other e-Sword subfolder under C:\Documents. Then uninstall and reinstall the e-Sword program and see if this restores normal operation.

If you don't have to be in a great big hurry, you may want to hold off for a bit - even a day or so - and see if others offer easier and better suggestions. I do not claim to be a pro but hope this helps!

Thanks for your reply! I have tried that before, without success, but will give it another go.  Maybe there is something that I have overlooked.  Still puzzled by the whole thing though ...
