Hello,
If all you did was click on the file name from the windows browser.... that is all that will happen.
It will open e-Sword but not the note file.
Earl is correct. You can only have one MAIN notes file of each type so rename your husbands file so you can access it.
To find out where your copy of e-Sword is storing the notes files From the Main Menu go to Options > Resource.

and then look at the bottom of the dialog... you will see where e-Sword stores the files.

Method 1)
Use the drop-down located at the bottom of the Editor window to access the file.
If you copied it to e-Swords default location the file will be in that list.

this will be the easiest way.
If per chance the file does not show in the list use method 2.
Method 2
The way to open it is open the editor in e-Sword for the type of note file it is.
Journal - Study - or Topic.
Press and hold the CTRL key and right click in the editor window.
a menu will pop up - choose Open

the file browser window will open for you to find the file you want.

Most likely it will start browsing some place like
"C:\Users\your user name here\Documents\e-Sword"
Just navigate to where you put his note file.
You should be able to open his notes in this manner.
Either one will work. You will need / want to switch back to your regular notes file when you are finished.
