Hello

I have a problem in e-Sword with copy of Notice Links.
I want to copy my notes with Link.
Copying itself goes, but by the insert, the link will not be with Copies.

For example the link  looks like:  Luk 2:3

After the insert the link appears as follows: Luk_2:3
in black, without underlined and not green,

as the original link, and not really as one link to the bible.

But previously it was not.

Please...Can someone tell what I need to adjust?

thank you in advance

Best regards  :)
Miro

What version of e-Sword are you talking about?

Where are you copying from?

Where are you copying to?

Just as a note...

in e-Sword for Windows....the verse pop-ups (Tool-Tipped verses) are not dependent on the color of the text, nor being underlined.

They ARE dependent on being formatted correctly which in this case is a valid three letter Book name like "Psa" for Psalms, an under_score mark "_" (the underlining of the entire reference usually hides the underscore character) the chapter number "73" a seperator character like a colon " : ". and the verse number. so " Psa_73:1 " all by itself would be a valid tool tipped verse reference.

Take a look at the image I include below. I simply copied the verse from the Bible and pasted it into one of e-Swords editors.

The top verse reference is not tool tipped because there is no underscore.

On the second line all I did was add an underscore character, moved to the end of the line and the hover/pop up now works.

No Green color, no underline.

Also note. No verse link is going to work outside of e-Sword. If you paste the verse reference into MS Word, that pop up is not going to function.

Hi Miro,

Ok A few more questions.

1) If you type a scripture reference in the Topic Notes Editor... lets say Gen_1:1 and press enter, it will still be black text, no underline, but does it work as a tool-tipped link? Does the scripture pop up?

2) if you do the same thing in the Study Notes Editor, type in the reference by hand, does that one function as a pop-up link?

3) if you copy the link you typed in by hand in the Topic Notes Editor and paste it into the Study notes Editor, does the link still work?

Can or will you please copy some short piece of text (with a link in it) from your Topic Notes editor and paste it in here as part of your next message? I would like to see the text.

Roy

Miro,

My asking you to type the verse reference by hand (using the under score character) was to show you that color and underline have nothing to do with a pop-up working.

Try this.

1) type in a verse reference the way you would normally do,

2) High-light the reference and then click the tool-tip icon to make the link.

3) check it to be sure the verse pops up.

4) now high-light that whole link and either type Ctrl-U or click the U icon to tun off underlining.

You should now see  the hidden Under_Score character *AND* the link should still work. Change the color of that text and the link will still work.

Creating the link the way I had asked you to is just a short-cut way of getting a tool-tipped Bible reference in your document.

One advantage of using the Tool-Top Button is that you will always get your text formatted to "Look" like a link.

I know that you did not ask about Strong's numbers but try this.

Type H123 into your editor.

Hit enter.

Now hover your mouse over the word H123 and you should get a Strong's pop-up.

The text is not green like you might expect.

It is not in Super-Script Like you might expect, but it works *because* of how the text was formatted.

As to why the formatting is not following over when you paset the text I can not answer. I simply do not know.

Do you always use High-light - Right click - copy - right click - paste?

Do you use key board short cuts Ctrl-C (for copy) Ctrl-V (for paste)?

I wish I could tell you more.

I have to leave for work.

God Bless you.

Roy

Check that option, "Paste as Formatted" is indeed checked and turned on.  Click the following menus in e-Sword:

Options + Editor Options + Paste as Formatted F11

Note - pressing the F11 key will toggle this option.  Accidentally pressing the key will cause e-Sword to paste only text, and leave off any formatting.

Arf..... I knew there was a Paste as formatted option for copying from the Bible (in the scripture copy dialog) but missed the setting for the editor....

Sorry about that!
