I work on the road and at home, using esword all the time. I have two different TOPX directories, one on a laptop, one on a desktop. Is it possible to merge them, or am I not able to do this? I fear if I drag one to the other pc, it will overwrite and erase all the topics on the laptop, and vice versa.

Thanks for any help.

If you  have a cloud storage account like dropbox, merge them into a directory there, then Open the Options menu and put the url for the folder where the User File location is listed.  The obvious disadvantage with this solution is that if you have no internet connection you don't have access to your TOPX files.

Thus says the LORD, "Let not a wise man boast of his wisdom, and let not the mighty man boast of his might, let not a rich man boast of his riches; but let him who boasts boast of this, that he understands and knows Me, (Jeremiah 9:23-24a)

"Defenders of the faith are inclined to be bitter until they learn to walk in the light of the Lord. When you have learned to walk in the light of the Lord, bitterness and contention are impossible." --Oswald Chambers, in Biblical Psychology from The Quotable Oswald Chambers.

Hi Tracy,

Well, no you can't merge them as such per se because they are on totally two different machines.

Here is thought of what you can possibly do, of which I think, when looking at your circumstance, would be more of a practical solution.

Rather than having the same topx files on your PC and on your Laptop, load them onto a cloud server, such as One Drive, Google Drive, Dropbox, or a My Cloud device. This way you can access your file and work on it whenever you are on the road, and then when you're at home you can work on it from there. Its just the one file you are working from, and that way you avoid making the mistake of overwriting or deleting the one by mistake.

A bit of my own story:

I use the cloud for doing Bible study and other work. When I am away from home I use my tablet to work on the same file, and when I am at home, I work on that file from my PC. When it comes to programming, I do the same with that when it comes to doing the coding. Everything is stored on the cloud, and that gives me the flexibility for when it comes to doing work.

However, if you don't wish to use the cloud, a simple solution is to use a pendrive (USB stick) and keep your files on that, and then work from that.

Blessings,

Thanks, I went with the thumb drive. Copy and Paste a new Topic works fine. I believe I liked how it worked on previous version, back in  the 6.x or 7.x when you could just find your individual items and copy/paste in the directory. Progress marches on. Thanks guys.

You can still copy and paste like you used to. I would copy the one I thought was the most complete to a DVD and copy and paste to the other one. The other one should warn you if there is already a file of that name on the second computer. Make a second DVD from the second computer when you get through and you'll have all of your files on one DVD.

Philippians 4:6-7 (KJV)
6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. 7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
