I'm a creature of habit and like to run my Bible program in a maximized window as doing so makes it easier to read all four sub-windows. I can maximize it and it might reopen the same way for 2 or 3 days, but eventually it opens in a 'Normal' window, yet [almost] maximized. I run a lot of different software every day and this is the only program I'm aware of that refuses to retain my preference. M$-Office, LibreOffice, Firefox, Solitaire, you name it: everything else reopens as it did when last closed. Is there a setting somewhere -- either in e-Sword or Windoze -- to make it always start up maximized?

If not and as an alternative, could I permanently readjust the "Normal" window size to my preference (at least 30%-40% smaller than the default) rather than being forced to accept the programmer's preference? That way, I would know immediately after launch that my Bible, commentary, editor and dictionary windows are not going to scroll as I expected instead of having to find out the hard way. I still love e-Sword more than any Bible program I've used and will continue to use it regardless. Either of these two options would just make it a good bit more enjoyable however.

FWIW, I'm running Windoze 10 at the current time. This has always been a problem, though, so it's doubtful the OS version really matters. TIA for any response/s.

Greetings Earl,

I'm having a problem with my "Bible Search" Window being to large, which will not allow me access to any of the buttons.

I'm searching through the posts  to see if it has happened to anyone else, in hopes of how to correct this & I noticed your post.

We're you able to correct your problem?

Shalom!

If you are either running e-Sword from a Desktop shortcut or a link in your Start Menu, here is how you have e-Sword maximized:

  1. Right click the e-Sword icon and at the bottom of the Context Menu, click Properties.
  2. At the Run: drop-down combo box, it will say, Normal Window. Click on the down-arrow of the combo-box, and change it to, Maximized.
  3. Click the Apply button, and then click the OK button to close the Properties dialog.
  4. Do not click the Cancel button.

I just tested the above instructions by rebooting my PC. I then click on the e-Sword desktop shortcut, and the program ran maximized.

AP,

I just tried all 3 settings, ..... Maximize to Minimize, to Normal, the Bible Search Window remains the same size no matter the setting, with the bottom right buttons buried under the bottom task bar.

I do appreciate your help, & in the other topic, I also told you about the "Screen shot", which apparently is sitting in the "Twilight Zone".

been a long, long, day Brother, I have to finish my dinner, hopefully before I go to work in the morning, I'll be able to get back with you.

Shalom!

Bless you, my child! I just did this. I had to create a desktop shortcut as right-clicking the ones in the start menu and pinned to the taskbar did not give the Properties option in Win-10. I'm anxious to see if this solves the problem. Of course, it may take a week or more (maybe a month) as it usually restarted several times before finally deciding to revert to a "normal" window. I could never figure out any definite pattern insofar as predicting when it would revert. Fingers crossed!
