I have my abbreviations inserted into the list for all 66 Bible books.  In fact, this list was prepared from my notes by BH back in 2010 when he created my "e-Sword TSK4" program.  He has all the abbreviations numbered correctly for me. That program (I tried it on a small sample of my material from Genesis 1 yesterday) did convert my reference format to the e-Sword format, but at the same time it stripped my file of the boldface that I use for Bible verse keywords, so I can't use BH's program of 2010 for my current project. 

 

The further advantage of the "e-Sword TSK4" program for me is it places my emphasis marks before the Bible book name of a Scripture reference so that e-Sword will recognize the reference.  For example, my format, Ge +*3:15, becomes +*Gen 3:15.  These symbols are a very important feature of my Bible study tool. The "+" symbol indicates "find more here."

 

I think I have seen a few instances where the new ToolTip NT program does this too, but apparently not always or not consistently, far as I can tell so far. Does anyone here know if the new ToolTip NT program has that feature or capability?

 

You should place the any special markings after the chapter and verse number so the reference would like this Gen 3:15+ with the plus sign in superscript

The trouble is, Tj Higgins, I wrote the text of this material I want to convert to an e-Sword module before there was an e-Sword Bible program, back in the 1970s and 1980s. My work has been published already as The New Treasury of Scripture Knowledge and my condensation of that work as Nelson's Cross Reference Guide to the Bible. I am always engaged in personal Bible study, and have greatly expanded the cross references since those works were published.

 

In February 2010 at this site's former location, "e-Sword Users," I got involved in an interesting discussion thread, because several e-Sword users were eager to have a resource in e-Sword that had much fuller cross references than can be found in the supplied-with-e-Sword Treasury of Scripture Knowledge. I worked from February 20, 2010 until this year, over 2016 full days, preparing an even greater resource for cross reference Bible study which builds upon what I already wrote.

 

My work, The New Treasury of Scripture Knowledge, is available in Bible software, but not in e-Sword. It was created for Thomas Nelson Bible publishers. What I have prepared now is much more complete, and my goal is to make it available for e-Sword software.

 

Dr. Dave Thomason and Dr. Brent Hildebrand and others encouraged me in 2010 to pursue this project. Dr. Dave furnished me invaluable additional resources that work with the e-Sword program which have been a great help in this work. I wish either he or BH would drop in on this thread and get back in touch with me to lend me a helping hand once again like in 2010.

 

So, all this to say that it would be a fruitless task at this point to try to change my whole system of cross references and my emphasis marking system. BH wrote a program that converts what I have to make it fully compatible with the e-Sword program back in 2010, but it lacks the capability to retain my boldface and italic formatting, things which must be retained.

 

My question still is, does BH's latest ToolTip NT program retain somewhere in its innards the capability to do what the "e-Sword T4SK" program he wrote for me can do? The program he wrote automatically repositions the emphasis markings I use before the Bible book name abbreviation, thus Nu +**32:23 becomes +**Num 32:23, for example.

 

I have spotted "remnants" of my project in the program in screenshots here and in the manual when reference is made to Symbols, and my symbols are shown, the final one being  "?" but also including the "+" and the "*" and the "%" symbols. In reading the manual  through carefully several times in the past two weeks, I ran across this, but forget how to get to this feature, and I don't know what action in the current new ToolTip NT program employs those symbols. Joshua Bond also made a comment about one of the symbols, suggesting that for some users it is best to remove the "?" symbol from the list.

 

Maybe someone here reading this can alert BH to this discussion, and alert Dr. Dave T. Thomason too.

Information for configuring symbols can be found on page 34 of the Tooltip users manual it involves bring up the settings window by pressing ALT-SHIFT-CTRL-S. This will open the Tooltip settings window from which you can carefully change many of Tooltip's settings

I have also been getting wonderful help in the background here to help me along the way.

 

My source files for my project were formatted with the book publishers in mind (starting back before 1972), not with the styles required for e-Sword modules, so I have a major task to re-format my files so the T4 NT tool will work with them, but I am quite sure it can be done.

 

Pray for success in my project. Once done, everyone here who enjoys doing Bible study by comparing Scripture with Scripture will certainly enjoy what I am preparing.

Hey! Guess what, I read about that some time ago when I was browsing Thomas Nelson's website, and I seriously drooled over it from both sides of my mouth. And as a result of all of that drooling I desired in my heart to see it being made for e-Sword and I prayed about it. You, brother are just one gob smacking amazing blessing and walking miracle on two legs. And I praise God for you.

 

As you can guess, this is my Pentecostal side of me coming out, which is totally gregarious.

 

Having just done the Holy Ghost 2 Step (plus the 3 and 4 step), along with singing and praising the Lord for this. I genuinely want to thank you, with tears of joy, for making this incredible resource available to us. I've used the TSK and the TSK Expanded edition for e-Sword, and although they are quite old editions, yet found them to be very helpful. And now, with this one you are making available for us, will be the one I will extensively use.

For the CCRT, I have a new macro and abbreviation file.  The abbreviation file may be incomplete.  I have texted this on the "Genesis 1" file and besides an obvious error in a verse in the Psalms, there are a couple of other issues.  But I'll post what I have now.

I just finished creating my new e-Sword module for cross reference Bible study today about 4:00 pm. BH was most helpful in overcoming the last hurdle, when the rtf file for the book of Job failed to process on my computer with the T4 program. Brent was able to get it to work at his end with no problem and sent the completed cmtx file to me early this afternoon. I was able to combine the 66 book modules with no trouble and install the module on my desktop computer and also on my Surface Pro 4.

 

I used the program for a home Bible study with my wife and we had a delightful time studying the Bible together this evening.

 

For many here who love to study the Bible this Bible study tool should be most helpful, and a far more complete source of cross references than you have ever seen. T4 showed there are something over 7000 verse references for Psalm 119, which must be a record.
