I have managed to finally get Strong's numbers to popup running e-sword with wine on linux.

You need to install the following using winetricks:

msftedit

msls31

msxml3

vb6run

vcrun6

wsh57

I believe the trick was to install msftedit which installs Microsoft Richedit 4.1. It takes about 15 minutes to download running 300 kb/sec.

Yes, this worked. I googled winetricks. Then I went into my Software Manager, located winetricks and then installed it.

I ran it.... installed the DLL's you listed. I followed the prompts. AND.....

now my e-sword works, the pop ups work, the Strongs numbers works....

it works

thank you

Works fine in Xubuntu 14.04.4. I noticed it was a little different on each computer I tried it on. On one occasion I was prompted to get a file from CNet, put it in a folder, then try again. It works fine.

And, there seems to be a few errors during the driver install process using WineTricks, but eSword runs fine when it's done regardless...

I am also using this on the new Xubuntu 16.04 LTS. I had to retrieve a file and saw errors through the process, but eSword runs as it is supposed to now.

Very, very happy :)

eSword 11  does NOT function fully in Linux (Xubuntu 14.04.4).

TSK (Treasury of Scriptural Knowledge) is plain text. Nothing happens when you mouse over, nor does anything happen when you click on one of the verses.

The pop ups do seem to work with Strongs.
