In reply to @APsit190 Posted on 21 August 2022 on the MySword forum topic for "Afrikaans bible". To refer to oneself in the third person, instead of the first person, is more professional, when providing a technical answer, and makes the sentence easier to quote. The reply can be easily found on the internet, with the relevant name of the writer of the item clearly and correctly identified.
biblesupport.com provides open internet access for the world to search for phrases or sentences which appear in entries in all the forums. This is not my website. I am not one of the webmasters. I was providing a technical reply on behalf of one of the Bible Support moderators, or on behalf of the webmaster.
I referred the reader to a review of a download entry for e-Sword, whereas you read this entry in the MySword forum. I also added a relevant link to the MySword website. I was able to copy and post a similar reply on many other unanswered queries in Bible Support forums, related to the Bible in Afrikaans, which now are not open-ended anymore.
The webmaster has coded the Bible Support download reviews option so that an author is not allowed to edit their own previous reviews. Programmers, and authors, are able to copy and post my sentence, without further research. I read the article that Olaf referred to, and found it somewhat interesting and humorous at the same time.

So, here is my take on it:

Write in the first person if you want to appear as a warm, friendly, kind, outgoing, and a gregarious person

Or:

Write in the third person if you want appear as a cold, distant, managerial, snobbish, and elitist person

So, I know what I prefer -- the down to earth, with a care free/laid back (she'll be right mate, no worries) attitude, and a willingness to proffer a helping hand, and give a person a hug whenever I can, that's the way I like to be.

So when it comes to referring to posts I put up, reviews I do, and videos I create and share, I always endeavor to appear as friendly and warm, so that the reader, listener is set at ease, and his/her stress factor is lowered. The best way to do it.

When it comes to writing white papers, help files, and other documentation, well that's a different story. Yet nevertheless I still try to make the dialog as informal as possible so that the person is not bogged down with technical terminologies/jargon that he/she doesn't understand. That word, "thingy" goes a long way. Even used by lecturers and professors. Good enough for them, good enough for me.

Blessings,
