Hi everyone,

I've been looking through the forums for a couple days and googling, but have been unable to find a definite answer. If this is posted in the wrong place, or answered elsewhere, please let me know and I'll remove this. I just purchased e-Sword X after painfully going without e-Sword for 5 years due to having a Mac. This has left me with two related questions:

1. Is it possible to convert the modules on a Mac without CrossOver?

2. Is it possible to convert the modules on a PC and transfer them to a Mac?

I've been blown away by the resources here at Bible Support. The first I've tried downloading is the complete works of Philo (.exe). Hopefully I can get this figured out soon. :-)

Thanks!

Much appreciated, Tj. This looks like it may answer the workaround Question 2, allowing someone to convert on a separate PC and transfer over if need be. Thanks!

I run a virtual Windows virtual machine on my Mac for the odd conversion of bibles in e-Sword or other applications that I test.

You can use either use Oracle VM VirtualBox, Parallels or VM Fusion.

I want to start a project to write a converter for Mac so we can enjoy these as well.  I don't have, want, nor can obtain Windows.  I want to be able to convert these natively.

Then, in typical Open Source fashion, I want to share it all back with you guys.

To do so, I need some things.

1.  Each format and the technical specs for them (schemas, etc.)  i.e., How are they *today* in their proper formats?

2.  Any source code for the pre-existing windows-based converter so I can duplicate that process.  Whom do I contact for this?

3.  Information as to where to upload converted modules for everyone's use.

4.  As much help as I can get.

Where can we get these items so everyone can benefit from all biblesupport.com has to offer on all platforms?

There are two programming IDEs you can use for your project:

  1. Swift - which is Apple's take on C++ and replacement of Objective C
  2. MS Visual Studio for Mac. This version is the same as the Windows version where you have a choice of programming languages, and includes Xamarin for developing apps for iOS, Android, and Windows Mobile devices. And the most important thing about this ... It's free. With VS you will require SQLite for Apple Platform and Apple Runtime libraries in order for you to do your project (and I guess it will be the same if you were to use Swift).

For the rest of the information and stuff you need, contact Rick Meyers at e-Sword.net, and I'm sure he will be only too happy to help you.

Blessings,

You can also download the converter from the E-Sword homepage:

http://www.e-sword.net/extras.html

The converter is at the bottom of the page
