May God change our hearts to what the truth is

2Ti_2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

Rom_9:16 So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy.

2Ti 2:24-25  And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient, In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;

I would like to know how to cite out of  the commentaries in e-Sword, Matthew Henry's,  and out of the Bible Illustrator say   (T.M. Morris.) on Heb.9: 15-28 in the Havard method.

I'm not too certain of how I do it is correct, and moreover, I haven't seen online anything which would show what is either or both the accepted method and the correct method.

The problem with quoting from Bible Software such as e-Sword and similar, the do not show page numbers. So with that in mind here is what I do when quoting from a source.

Below is a quote from a Commentary  when I did an essay on worship.

The Samaritans came about as a result of the Assyrians having conquered “the Northern Kingdom of Israel in 722 B.C.E.,”

Which I then placed the source in a footnote:

Commentary notes on Jn 4:9. Stern, David H. – The Jewish New Testament Commentary, e-Sword 9x edition.

As to whether this is the correct, preferred, or acceptable method, I have no idea.

Another method one could use, and of which I have used is:

“the Northern Kingdom of Israel in 722 B.C.E.,” (Stern, David H.).

And then either at the end of the Book, thesis, or an essay, have a Notes section, where all the sources are given in full.

Now, if anyone else may wish to comment on the methods I've shown, and/or correct them, please feel free to do so, as this is a learning curve for me.

Blessings,
