I downloaded modules, installed them in e-sword and they worked perfectly.

I recently had to rei-install WIndows 7 on my laptop and the modules which worked previously, no longer show up in e-sword, even though they reflect in the folder. Please help.

OK, when you install resources, you need to take notice of the location to where you are installing them. The default locations for installing resources are:

  • For Windows 7, 8, 8.1, and 10 is C:\Program Files (x86)\e-Sword
  • For Windows XP is C:\Program Files.

The type of installer you are using, whether it the Module Installer and/or another type of installer, they will always show the location of where  your resources are being installed. See Screenshot below:

Attached File  Resource Installers.jpg   50.05K   162 downloads

As you can see in the screenshot of the location where I install my resources. These will not change unless you have changed them like the way I have changed them.

I trust this information will be helpful to you.

A tip for certainty for downloading resources

I use Firefox as both my preferred and default web browser, and by using this program I have total control of the location in where I download content. Although I have my default download location on my secondary hardrive (E:\Downloads), I have, in Firefox's Options, in General Settings, under Downloads, to ask me where I want to save the download. This saves me a lot of grief over having to try to find downloaded content.

Another tip for when it comes to downloading content. When wishing to download something, (if right handed) right click on the download button, and in the context menu, click on Save As, and then from there select the drive, and folder to where you want to download to. However, make certain, if there isn't a file name, to give it one.

Blessings,

What version of e-Sword, and what were the names of the downloads (are you certain they were for your particular version of e-Sword?).

I downloaded the module of David Guzik 3 times and installed; each time nothing showed up in E-Sword. The commentary name is there even with the checkmark indicating there were comments, but the commentary area is blank. I have downloaded many modules and this is the only one that does not work.

E-sword 10.4

Windows 8.1

E-sword 10.4

Windows 8.1

I have no issues with this commentary. However, when it comes to where blank pages are, these will happen for the following reasons that I know of, and which are:

  • That there is no entry in the commentary for the particular verse that you have clicked in your Bible window.
  • That there is no entry in either the Book and/or Chapter section of the commentary.
  • That it is either just a New or Old Testament commentary (nearly forgot that one).

This you will find with any of the commentaries due to the fact that not all the Books and/or Chapter sections have commentary notes in them, and that not all verses have commentary notes. So with the fact that you are looking at a particular verse, and that there are no notes with in it, does not necessitate that the commentary does not work.

I hope that this is the case, and that this information is helpful to you.
