Hi All,

Still tweaking my E-Sword re-install and ran across a troublesome situation.

I am suspecting heavily that I have some duplicate files. Where there is doubt is in the file sizes and file names, but looking at it in E-Sword, they 'appear' to be identical.

What I need to know is how to determine if I in fact have duplicate files. As I mentioned, the file names are not exact, but they seem to 'appear' (in E-Sword) as being the same. How can I verify that they are OR are not the exact same? I don't want to just start deleting, only to find out that it wasn't the case.

Thanks.

You can with ToolTip ToolNT read the files and remove all the tab-positions (press Ctrl+a to select everything and double click on the ruler and clear all and OK) and save both in RTF

If they have the same file-side then is this a good sign.

The reasons of a different file side are textual changes, unnecessary RTF tags(before or after converting) or layout or fonts:

Open the files with notepad and look by "save as" what is the encoding? (ANSI ,Unicode, UTF-8)

ANSI is the smallest but has trouble with other alphabets.

If you have Microsoft Word:

http://www.word07.co...e-documents.htm

click on more for more options and select only  movements, letter-level and "new document" (Sorry I have the Dutch version of Word) and OK.

Katoog,

Thanks for your input and I think I understand what you are talking about. What I am understanding you to say is bascially that all I need to do is look at the file under RTF or Word and check the contents of the file that way in order to see if they are the same.

If I have it wrong, clarify it for me please. I do have Word and I will check the link (thanks for that).

Again, I hope I understood you correctly.

I use Duplicate Files Deleter as it is very effective. It is 100% accurate and performs the scan quickly.
