Sburke,
You might consider this.
e-Sword uses a database structure to store its data.
The bible database has three fields in particular, one each for Book, Chapter, and Verse.
The way it handles verses is this.
The Books are numbered 1-66
The chapters and verses are what they are.
So for example, if I wanted to access John 3:16 from the database file I would need to go to the record where Book=43, Chapter=3, and Verse=16.
You could do this by assigning a column for BCV (Book:Chapter:Verse) and put the data in the proper cell like this "43|03|16" or "43:03:16" or even "43.03.16".
Keep in mind that the data would be Character so you need to make sure you use a leading Zero. Example 03:16 and not 3:16.
If you don't you would get a wonky verse order 1,11,1213....18,19,2,20,21,22,....etc. (Because 1 comes before 2, so 1,11,12 would also come before 2 because you would be sorting characters, NOT numbers!!)
Hope this gives you some ideas.
Roy
Edit: Oops, I should have added, Then you would sort on this "Special" Column and your verses would be in proper order.
