Dear Members and Visitors of the Site,

Greetings to you in the name of our LORD JESUS CHRIST. While i was meditating on BIBLE, this morning this thought flashed in my mind. Give a thought to it and let me know your view.

There is never an end to the knowledge or revelation one can obtain from meditating on scriptures. We already have plenty of commentaries, books on the website to refer from, as the helping aids in understanding scriptures. Each one of us come here either to download, upload modules. Very few are the original modules created by the members. Many of us take content from existing sources and making them into modules. All of us are doing our own BIBLE study with the help of downloaded modules. Each one of us are blessed with the SPIRIT of GOD to obtain fresh revelation from the scriptures as we dig them daily in our lives. The knowledge obtained either retained in ourselves or shared in closed groups, at times in open groups if any personal website was hosted on our name. The knowledge was not fed back to the system in my observation. it is like andaman & nicobar islands. thousands of tiny little islands with no attachment, but called under a single name. So much to count in number but weak in size and power. If all those island masses come together and join hands......

Today our group is very strong with member count more than 120,000 with believers and men/women of GOD. How about collecting our knowledge, experience and revelation on scriptures at one place on the site and creating a collaborative commentary on BIBLE from BIBLE support group?

  1. None of us as good as or as strong as our collective wisdom
  2. None of us will ever get complete revelation of a verse in BIBLE becuase it is not comprehendible by human mind. pieces connected together will give us the broad picture and helps us to humble ourselves before GOD.
  3. We can edify ourselves with the experiences of other believers. Even BIBLE encourages in ephesians to let the brothers dwell in unity
  4. So far commentaries were written in small groups or by one author. if such small groups and solo men can bless the body of CHRIST so much, think what kind of impact this large group can create for future generations.
  5. One may say it is messy if these many attempt to work on commentary. but if we let GOD take control nothing is impossible. we can come out of our denominational boundaries, self views and strive towards that notes that glorifies only GOD and HIM alone and no single person, organization or view. In my belief the true revelation born of GOD will be acceptable to all as we all accept JESUS CHRIST in common.
  6. We can keep refining the notes as we mature in our walk with the LORD and gain new insights into HIS scriptures. GOD said in HIS scripture that HE will counsel us with HIS eyes upon us.
  7. We will be leaving this as legacy to our present and following generation to feed on and get strenghtened in the inner man.

if we choose to work on it, we can work out a plan and bring better shape to it.

Regards

david.

A great idea and that would be something fantastic to see coming into being. However, I seriously think that no one would really want to participate in something like this because of the huge theological divisions which exists, and they do exist. And if this should take off, then you would have the huge difficulty of finding unity with this, as unity would not really be of how Scripture seems to show it, but rather more of something that looks like a massive compromise, and as such beliefs that are fundamental to some, and may not be to others, would have to be compromised away. One such example of this would be the Pentecostal teaching of the Baptism of the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues.

Now, that is just one example of the many problems that you will face. You have the SDAs, Mormons, Jehovah Witnesses, Roman Catholics, Calvinists, Arminianists, Jewish Wanna Be's and etc., along with the rest of the extreme fringe element, of which all claim to be right, will want a piece of the proverbial pie.

So, with that, I hope you will have great fun in trying to work all this out.

Being sincere about this, I really would love to see something like this come out, but I really have my doubts about it.

Blessings,

Hey Brother,

I have to admit, my first response was pretty much the same as that from APsit190. Great idea but it will never work. Then, I remembered something my pastor said just yesterday. He was telling the story of when he went into the office of his church's accountant (my pastor was new there at the time) and asked if the accountant thought that the church could become debt free within three years. The man replied "NO Way, Not a chance". My Pastor said he turned around and walked out of the office without saying anything else. He related that he was very disappointed with the mans response. Long story short, by believing God would supply, they did become debt free in that three years! (PTL!!).  My point is, if God is in it, then ANYTHING is possible, regardless of what we think the outcome may be.

Regarding the differing interpretations on certain scriptures/doctrines, we could simply include each of them as representative of those denominations, etc. Simply present the case for each interpretation without saying "we are right and you are wrong" but instead saying "This is what we think this is what the Bible is saying here, and why".

Anyway, just my two cents.

Roy

Hi,

I agree with Roy that if God want it done, it will be done.

Prophetically speaking it reminds me of the times we (the Church) is living in.  For there will be great persecution against the Church, and if the body is divided it will fall.  but if it is united (Psa 133).

How or what did the Forefathers (when the Church began) how where they in unity?

thanks

I would vote no for my own involvement because of the organizational nightmare this would be. Such an undertaking would take years, and I really don't know what we would have at the end of it. Also, we already have a huge selection of the very best commentaries that have ever been written to choose from in our personal studies. I'm talking about commentaries done by the best scholars of all time.

Please don't take my vote as a wet blanket. I will wish you well if a group of you decides to do this.

Philippians 4:6-7 (KJV)
6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. 7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
