Hello,

While typing into my study notes, I may have deleted everything accidentally.

Next to the "save" icon is a drop down menu with all the books of the Bible listed.

I wondered what would happen if I changed it to a different book from the one that was showing at the time.

I did it, and all my study notes suddenly disappeared.  "Undo" was grayed out.

There is only one NOTX file in my documents>e-Sword folder, which consists of the post-disappearance notes.

Did that one action really delete my study notes?

Is it really THAT easy to accidentally irrecoverably delete your study notes?

Change it back to the book chapter and verse you where taking your notes on

the study notes are a commentary so it allows you to make notes on each verse of the bible by changing the book name you changed where you had notes to where there where none that's why they disapeared

your notes are there but you need to go back to the book chapter and verse you had notes

May God change our hearts to what the truth is

2Ti_2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

Rom_9:16 So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy.

2Ti 2:24-25  And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient, In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;

Thanks DSaw.

I did a test, and found that your answer is accurate.

Unfortunately for me, even though I did change it back at the time, I guess I must have done something in my panic to cause the notes to be saved from where I resumed.

They are gone, but I sure won't forget about this.

B.H. is also correct

unless you highlighted the text and hit delete you should have it

do you know how to zip a file

If so zip your study.notx file and upload it here with more reply Options so we can look at your files to see where you have notes entered

or open it yourself in tooltip tool to find your missing notes

Would that be ToolTip Tool 3.52, or ToolTip Tool NT, or something else?

I have downloaded both, but so far I have installed neither.

If you want to locate your study notes there is a built-in method. In the editor window there is an icon next to the magnifier, "paper with binoculars" (hover it and it says "locate study notes"). Press that and it will show all your note locations. Make sure you don't have a word selected in the text, otherwise it will try to search with that term when you open that window. If the window insists on opening with a search term already there. Select (temporarily) from the dropdown list, to the left of the gear icon, on the "locate study notes" window, "Regular expressions". Now enter a $ as the search term, and it will list all the topics.
