I've used esword for years, am currently using 10.3.  Out of the blue the bible search window won't load from either the icon or the bible menu.  The commentary search function still works fine.  I just upgraded from 10.1 to 10.3 thinking that might fix the problem but no luck.  Any thoughts?

Restarting your computer sometimes has positive effects.

If not, click "help" on the main e-Sword menu, and click "reset e-Sword settings".

If the above doesn't work, re-install e-Sword, and do install the latest version 10.3.

I hope this helps.

Hi Judith,

I'm using Windows 8.1, and have the same version of e-Sword as you do, and have no issues with getting up any of e-Sword's search dialogs. Mind you I have 16GB (Gigabytes) of RAM on my PC.

With that said, a lot of things could be dependent on what you have on with e-Sword, and how much data its having to carry that could be chewing up your memory, and thus could be cutting into your RAM. For example, on my PC., e-Sword has to load up just a tad over 3GB of data (files), and on my old PC with just 1GB of RAM she was fair struggling. However now with 16GB of RAM, I wish I could say it isn't slow to load, but I can say, it certainly is a heap faster that what it was before.

So, with that, you may have to free up some of the data that e-Sword is having to load by checking off some of the resources so that they don't load the next time you run it. To check off resources you don't want e-Sword to load, in your Options menu, click on Resource... and then in the Resource Options dialog check off the resources you don't want e-Sword to use (see screenshot below).

e-Sword's Resource Options Dialog

Then restart e-Sword, and then test to see if your search dialog will load.

Failing that, you might have to add on more RAM or buy a new PC or something more drastic.

Blessings,

Thank you both for your input.  Alas, I have restarted the computer, reset the setting, uninstalled and reinstalled the latest version, uninstalled the module installer (that may have been when the problem started) and deselected every reference except the KJV.  No luck. :(

That's great news.

Yeah! - Great news. I hope that you enjoy e-Sword as much as I do.
