Some background first: I have version 7.1 on an old computer that is dying and decided to put version 10 on a newer one.  It worked great but I found it would take a lot of time and expense to upgrade all the old modules accumulated over the years -- my internet connection is very slow dialup.  So I decided to uninstall version 10 and put version 7 on the new computer.  However, version 10 did not uninstall properly so I manually deleted folders and files on the hard drive and all registry entries I could find before installing version 7.

Version 7 installation was successful but soon after the splash screen appears, when starting e-Sword, it disappears and is replaced by the error window stating that the e-Sword\asv.bblx file could not be opened.  If OK is clicked in the error window, e-sword starts and seems to work normally.

Why is version 7 trying to open that version 10 bblx format file?  There is no asv.bblx file in the e-Sword folder or anywhere on the hard drive.  And I can't find any registry reference to bblx.

The only consequence found so far is the annoyance of the error window.  Does anyone know what may be causing it and how to fix it?  Any suggestions, I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling version 7 with no luck?

I forgot to add that I used my old e-Sword installation CD to install version 7 so the setup program was not corrupted.

I know that you probably don't want to hear this, but it's time to update to the latest version of e-Sword. Records are kept of the modules you bought, and they can be replaced free of charge. There is no support any longer for e-Sword 7, and it doesn't work well with many of the newer computers. I don't know what it would take to solve your current problem and get e-Sword 7 running properly.

Philippians 4:6-7 (KJV)
6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. 7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Not sure but you might have a situation were e-Sword has stored the file in Virtual Store on you computer. The links below may be of some help.

Up grading is an option you should still consider. Their are plenty of people on this site that could give you help in converting most module you already have. As journey mentioned your premium models can be upgraded at no cost.
