Rick Meyers, the developer of e-Sword, says that e-Sword for Android runs on Chromebooks, and probably anything else Android that can gain access to the Play Store.

Olaf,

E-Sword runs very well on all Chromebooks which can run the Google Play Store and Android apps. At present e-Sword will also install the built-in modules, but will not install 3rd modules like here on biblesupport.com.

I have it running on both of my Chromebook laptops and love it.

The android version of e-Sword has an import feature for installing third party modules

Ummm, yeah, OK, where?

Might be helpful to show or tell where this feature can be found. At the moment the information you gave is about as useful as hip-pockets on a t-shirt.

Blessings,

Dear APsit190, you just need to get out of your comfort zone and READ.
(1) go to the website of Rick Meyers, www.e-sword.net then (2) go to the tab LINKS, (3) select the Android option, (4) from the android web page, select the FAQ option, and HOW DO I GET MY PC E‑SWORD MODULES INTO E‑SWORD [for Android and Chrome]?

then read STEP 4. That just needs to be expanded with how to send to the Chrome device. Try to do so by emailing the converted module to that device. Then STEP #4 — Transfer. The final step is to copy the new module(s) onto your Android [Chrome] device.
Ummm, yeah, OK, where?

READ THE DETAILS:

Open e‑Sword [for Android and presumably for Chrome also], tap the menu button on the Bible view's top toolbar, then select the "Import" menu item. Browse to the directory where you copied the converted modules into, and select them. The modules will be imported, but if there are any problems with a module it will be ignored.

Just checking with Rick on this one.

I have read that Chromebooks are quite fussy about the location of where you can install data from.

Jon,

I have imported directly from a USB thumb drive and a mini SD card.  Via a network one can copy the files into the "Downloads" folder and then import them from there.  The Chromebooks have been the more accommodating devices, if you ask me.  The files need to be in the .xxxi HTML format.

In His service,

Rick Meyers

Hey Olaf, I seriously wonder why you have to be so literal and narrow in your thinking.

The question I posed to Tj Higgins was not because I didn't know how how to import a third party file. Rather, the question I posed to him was because he didn't give any information of where this function can be found to the person he responded to.

Just merely to state that there is an Import feature without any further information as to how to access it, is pretty much useless on its own.

In essence, Mr Higgins really gave no help to that person at all!!!

By the way, I know where that "Import" function is. And not only that, I had a gut feeling you'd be the sucker to respond.
