Am looking for a module which may already exist which can give a critique of the differences in the recieved text compared to the Wescott and Hort view. From internal evidence I have no doubt that the majority text excells but would love a real textual analysis.Or a commentary which can take in the debate. The Dean is one of the best!!

The works by Dean John Burgon would be excellent in this regard. I've looked at several .pdfs as possible modules, and sadly, I must say that (digitally speaking) they are a mess.

:(

What books by Burgon are worthwhile? Is there one (or more than one) considered his hallmark achievement?

  1. Causes of the Corruption of the Traditional Text of the Holy Gospels
  2. Last Twelve Verses of the Gospel According to S. Mark Vindicated Against Recent Critical Objectors and Established
  3. Articles:  I. The New Greek Text. II. The New English Version. III. Westcott and Hort's New Textual Theory.
  4. The Revision Revised
  5. ???

Those all sound worthwhile to me.

Thanks for the input. It appears that the Burgeon analysis is probably the best. Edward F hill also has some interesting input..shame the pdfs are a mess!

I have two of of Hills' works available at my site: "The King James Version Defended" & "Believing Bible Study." I highly recommend The King James Version Defended.

These works are under copyright; but the author's daughter granted me kind permission to release them in eSword format. Look under "KJV Issues" on this page.
