I'm trying to set up categories under the Journal feature.  I want to sent up categories on prophecy, Salvation,  faith, etc. How do I set these up and how do I keep them organized?

Hi, Ken,

There are three "Editors" in eSword: 1) Study Notes; 2) Topic Notes; and 3) Journal Notes. Each of these are useful, depending on how you organize information.

If you want a personal notation tied to a verse of the Bible, make your note in "Study Notes." This functions as a personal commentary. And every time you come across this verse in your Bible, the "Blue Information" graphic will appear on the "Study Notes" tab.

If you want a personal notation tied to a date on the calendar, make your note in "Journal Notes." For those who write every day, and think "calendrically," this will be the most useful personal note editor.

If you want to make a personal note tied to a specific topic, then use the "Topic Notes." For every subject you wish to add, simply click the "New Topic" button.

So, based on your question, don't use the Journal Notes. Instead, set up your subjects in Topic Notes.

Is it possible to maka a back up of the Study Notes, outside (independently) of e-sword?

 Thanks for any answer.

When I look for it under Documents, it says "target directory does not exist"

Yes - all of those editors have individual files stored in your "...documents\e-Sword" folder.

Sorry, I thought this was support for MySword.  I couldn't find Topic Notes .  Wonder why?

Ken,

I wasn't paying close enough attention to the forum category. Your question is right; my answer is wrong. My responses were for eSword - not MySword. So sorry to add to the confusion.
