This an ideal and probably someone elsewhere could have came with the same ideal.

Mainly for evangelism. Not surer if you can put some of this on DVD or CD. Be one thing you can hand to your members as well assay new visitors to your church. Can also send them a copy. We have a decent Fairgrounds-computer shoes, gun shows, 4H activities, bake offs, and whatever else you can think of. Have to pay to have your own display. Of course, give the scriptures freely for no cost. Also could use it in door to door work. Not sure where to put this-can we actually put these on disks-CD'/DVD.

Thanks

Dave Emme

You are welcome to download modules that you feel someone would be best blessed with and make a CD or DVD, and then give that away. If you did that, you might want to also supply e-Sword itself on a CD or DVD so they could use the content.

We need a way to install eSword on computers that do not have internet connection - for this great idea of something to distribute.  A rack for church.  Super!

Wondering, if a church were to give away CD's with e-Sword, and a number of resources, is there a way to do this with a single simple install?

the easiest is the dvd from esword site as it comes with many resourcses.  Runs in my mind it used to be set up with a directory and the whole thing was installed -- you could just add what you want - you'd have to experiment.

our easier just give a second dvd, or a resource directory on the regular dvd with instructions to copy files to where they belong.

That would work. But a batch installer might be easier. Something that would pop-up on auto-run and Ask "Do you want to install e-Sword and extra resources?"

Wondering if the installer that is used for the modules available here on BibleSupport could be put to such a purpose?

Another possibility would be to have an install menu open on auto-run (not unlike the one that comes with printers that allows you the choice of installing the driver as well as the associated extra software).

For e-Sword module installation, I use Innosetup. Here's an excerpt from a blog I wrote a few years ago:

InnoSetup (www.innosetup.com)
Want to make a self installing file, where the downloader can run a program and install your module? Or your program? Or your slideshow? And create the icons in Windows in the Start menu and/or on the desktop? And you want it all free? Innosetup is the way to go. Highly scriptable and configurable, this application is used by everyone from Fortune 500 companies to little people like me.

Here's a sample configuration file for creating a self installing e-Sword module.
zip.gif  esword installer.zip (949bytes)

You can easily install many modules with Innosetup.

I'm almost positive you can achieve your goal by using Innosetup in this situation.

You would install the modules with the config file above.

You would modify the config file above to also run the e-Sword installer. This article touches on running an exe with Innosetup during an install process. Although the article talks about a Microsoft redistributable exe, the logic for this remains the same: you want to execute an install file (exe) in Innosetup, and that's what the e-Sword installer is.
