May God change our hearts to what the truth is

2Ti_2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

Rom_9:16 So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy.

2Ti 2:24-25  And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient, In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;

Hi all,

How is this project going?  I am interested in the GESENIUS' HEBREW GRAMMAR as an e-Sword module.  (Sorry about the shouting but I copied it from the work on wikisource.)  The copyright note there suggests that the translation presented is out of copyright in many countries (even in my country Australia where it is death of author [1931] + 70 years).

I am finding that much of my growing Hebrew grammar needs are being supported by research in the NET Bible module and notes.  However, to augment that, the module would be a great addition to my Hebrew knowledge acquisition.

John

Hi all,

Well, I have made quite a bit of progress on this with the help of gad4.  Thanks.

  1. I have now downloaded what looks like a useable Genesius Grammar from this site and added it to both my ipad (as refi) and a WIN10 PC (as topx).
  2. I have heeded the advice in the Grammar to install SBL Hebrew on both platforms.
  3. Both platforms’ installations in e-Sword will display the plain text but fail to display the Hebrew characters.  Typically, what should be Hebrew characters show like, “Of the vowels of the U-class, û and tone-long ō stand in a tone-bearing closed final syllable, and ŏ in a toneless syllable, e.g. éÈ÷åÌí he will arise, éÈ÷Éí jussive, let him arise, åÇéÌÈ֫÷Èí and he arose”.
  4. I have rebooted both platforms after the font installation just in case.
  5. Both platforms appear to show SBL Hebrew as an available font.

Any suggestions?

John

e-Sword uses a font called Titus Cyberbit Basic for Hebrew text as default font, if you set your Hebrew text in this font it will render correctly in e-Sword

Thanks for your suggestion.

I have downloaded and installed Titus Cyberbit Basic, installed it via its profile onto my iPad and rebooted the iPad.  I have yet to try it on the PC.

However, though Titus Cyberbit Basic may be the default for e-Sword, I may not have made it clear that I have downloaded the Grammar (already created?) as both refi (for iPad) and refx for Win10.  I have been assuming that it was ready to use with the appropriate installed font.  So, I have two more fonts installed on my iPad, neither of which will allow the characters in the Grammar to display.

To be clear, I didn’t think I would have needed to or be able to “set your Hebrew text in this font”, as I am not creating the resource, merely attempting to use it.

Can anyone else help me here?

Thanks again,

John

I sent you a Private Message with a link to the file. It appears to have been an encoding issue.
