I have reinstalled Windows Vista for a customer who is a preacher. He used eSword, so I copied the .notx files so they could be used by the new installation. Unfortunately when I try to open them in the latest version of eSword they just come up blank. The filename can be chosen at the bottom via a dropdown menu, but there seems to be no content. Does anyone have a link to version 9.x that i can try and see if that would work? Or any suggestions at all?

Where did you copy the notx files from? The issue may be that there was more than one notx file and you may not have copied the one with his notes in it.

If there's 4 years worth of data in the notx file, then the notx file should be substantially larger than the 3-5k of a new (blank) study notes file. Is the notx file you copied a large file, consistent with 4 years of usage?

Text was copied from the Documents folder, Each of the 60+ .notx files is the name of the sermon and is about the right size for the text it contains.

Thanks,
Nate.

Here are 2 of the files. I suspect they are empty, I found a copy of eSword 9.x and seems nothing is there. Very very odd, No idea what is going on.

The first Accountability in the Church notx file has a note on Matthew 6:8. That is the only note in the file.

The second notx file is a duplicate of the first.

Interesting you find some sort of content, I will post a screenshot of what I have. Maybe I am using the program wrong.

You're viewing study note content for John 3:16. I didn't see a comment for John 3:16. The only study note in the first module was Matthew 6:8.
