There is no book viewer of any type in eSword for the iPad version.  I also am anxiously waiting for this improvement! Not just to be able to read the Pulpit Commentary on the Ipad, but to be able to read any of my eSword books on my ipad.  Or, have Biblesupport.com place up alternate pdf format books so we can read on Ipad or Kindle! ....Thanks, Peter

The iPad has Reference modules which works great for books.

Rick Meyer issued an update to the e-sword app which includes the Pulpit commentary!   Additionally, he stated that file sharing will now work and users will be able to convert modules for use on the ipad app.  More details on how to do that are forthcoming.  FYI
