I am excited about the new version.    One thing that I do wish eSword would do, is that when I hover over a word...  For example,  using KJV+, if I hover over a green Strong's number, up pops a box.  In that box is another green Strong's number.  I would like to move my mouse into that box, and hover over the green Strong's number there and see the information on that number.

Just in case I am not clear.  In Matthew 1:1,  the word generation is from Strong's G1078.  When I hover over G1078, up pops a box that says, "from the same as G1074..."  If I could move my mouse over G1074 and see the box pop up describing it...  Might have to hold a mouse button down to do so, but I often find myself wanting information inside one of the tip boxes and having to do lots of clicking to get it.

This would result in my having two tip boxes open, and that might not be possible, but sure would be nice.

Thanks for considering my input, and more than that,  THANKS FOR ESWORD!

Also,  in the commentaries and dictionaries,  it will often show a scripture in green.  Hovering over that scripture shows the scripture.  Right clicking the scripture gives you a menu with a copy function that is often grayed out, or does not work in that it won't copy the scripture.   If I am doing a topical study and want to copy the scripture referenced in the commentary (or dictionary) area,  I would like to be able to right click on it,  select copy and the scripture text be copied into the clipboard of my computer, for pasteing, pasting,  (how do you spell paste-ing) into my notes.

I hope I am not sounding picky or hard-to-please.  These are just requests that may or may not be possible but that I would like to see in eSword.

Thanks again for making this incredible resource available to us.

Hey Nick,

The Green scripture references that you refer to are called tool tips.

The right click menu that you refer to is not for the scripture but for selected text in the Commentary or Dictionary windows themselves. If you were to highlight a section of text in either of those windows, you would then be able to access those choices in the pop-up menu.

To copy the verse text in the tooltip window, while the window is open, press F4. This should send the text to your clipboard, where you can then right-click and paste in your word processor (or the e-sword editor).

You should be able to see a PDF version of the users guide by pressing F1 (as long as you have a PDF reader installed on your computer).

Hope this helps,
Roy

If it is possible, I would like to see the full name of the current selected " tab " displayed next to the header in the 4 blocks, i.e.

In the Bible block                - Bible : New King James (When you selected the NKV tab in the Bible block)

In the Commentaries block - Commentaries : Church Pulpit Commentaries (When selecting the CPC tab in the Commentaries block)

In the Dictionaries block     - Dictionaries : Webster's 1828 Dictionary (When selecting the Webster tab in the Dictionary block)

In the Editor's block            - Editors : Whatever description you gave this file

If I remember right, you do have a tool to change the description that is displayed when hovering over a tab. Maybe you can use this description but I would rather have the actual original Bible name / Commentaries name / Dictionaries name / etc displayed here

Sometimes you scroll thru the tabs but you can't remember the selected tab description is, then you have to scroll back / forward. The current discription that is displayed when hovering over a tab must still be displayed

Since these suggestions were made, (in 2013), the e-Sword User's Guide has been made available. Last updated in 2014 by Josh Bond, webmaster of biblesupport.com.

This is downloaded together with the e-Sword version which you downloaded direct from https://www.e-sword.net

You will find this on your PC, in PDF format, in the Resources Location folder, where the e-Sword files are stored, which by default is C:\Program Files (x86)\e-Sword in Windows 11 running Microsoft Operating system (64-bit).
While e-Sword is running, press the function key F1 (help) to call up the e-Sword User's Guide. Use Ctrl+F to search for the word you expect to find described in the document.

When viewing a pop-up, as illustrated in the e-Sword User's Guide on page 62, when you left-click on the Strong's number, then all dictionaries, or lexicons, which are linked to that number are immediately set to that entry. Move to the Dictionary pane, and select the appropriate Dictionary, or Lexicon, for which the information icon appears highlighted, in which you can view the details.

While any pane displaying the books is open, and maximized, when you hover the cursor over the tab, then the related abbreviated information about that book will appear in a pop-over. If you would like to modify the content of the information in the tab, yourself, you can use the Bible Support utility, e-Sword Tab Renamer Please read the information about this e-Sword utility, provided by the programmer, Raymond Barone, and by Josh Bond, who provided the download option.

The following link will enable you to read discussion by the programmer, Raymond Barone, who answered queries about the e-Sword Tab Renamer, and will enhance the program when requested to do so. This is at http:// www.biblesupport.com/topic/2200-e-sword-utilities-e-sword-tab-renamer. HINT: remove the space when you copy this link into your browser address. http://www.biblesupp...rd-tab-renamer/

From Raymond Barone's page, there is a link to where to download this utility, which is at http: //www.biblesupport.com/e-sword-downloads/file/7421-e-sword-tab-renamer/ HINT: remove the space when you copy this link into your browser address. http:////www.biblesu...rd-tab-renamer/

Please also read the comments in the review of that download page, for further relevant information.

FOR REQUESTS FOR NEW CHANGES IN E-SWORD, PLEASE CONTACT Rick Meyer, the designer, rick@e-sword.net
