What is the fastest/suggested way to import the Bible?
I exported the text in a matter of seconds as a CVS file (using SQLite dbBrowser2.0.b1 and Windows 2000 Pro sp4).
But reloading it to 5-1/2 hours!

I do not know what I could have done that would have caused such a delay, but I would like to know how I can speed up the process.

BTW What is a reasonable amount of time to import the Bible?
Please advise.
Thanks, Tracey

Are you trying to convert an old bbl into a bblx file?

No, I am fixing some text.

How long should it take to import the text of Bible into/as a bblx file (is 5-1/2 hours normal or excessive)?

(FWIW a newbie to SQL): The bblx has 3 tables: details, bible, and index

Is it the in-process index building is making it take so long?

Is there anything I can do shorten the time it takes to complete the process and yet still have a fully functional bblx file?

Please advise.

Thanks, Tracey

I'm not sure about SQLite but a general rule for SQL databases is that

speed can be improved if you have no indexes to start with, add all the data first, then apply an index.

If you have the index in place from the start, each time you add data it has to rebuild the index. This should not be a problem but perhaps SQLite does not optimise this process well.

hi

You can change a text in a bible using Tool Tip Tool NT  found here

http://www.biblesupp...ooltip-tool-nt/

open Tool Tip Tool NT;  click on Modules at the top; scroll down to bible ; click on read bible file

this will open non encrypted modules

it will load the file and you can alter the text.

thanks

Using SQLite, and assuming your Bible is in SQL statements, it should take a few seconds.

The FireFox Web Browser has an SQLite plugin (it is called SQLite Manager).
You can use that to edit the database (assuming it is not encrypted) with out having to export anything.
