Hi all,

I would like to create MySword and e-Sword modules for a new web-based bible. This bible has some notes within the text as well as an introductory text for each of the 66 books. In MySword I will use translators notes for both of these, but I wonder if there is something comparable in e-Sword and how I would encode it in the module.

If e.g. a cross reference is named correctly, e-Sword will show the text in a tool tip. The same goes for Strong's dictionary references, but is there a way to do it for arbitrary text or am I obligated to make a separate cmtx module containing the notes and introductory text?

Regards,
Rob

Rob,

There IS a way to do it.  Unfortunately, I don't know how.  The latest NASB for e-Sword that I have has the footnotes tooltipped in the Bible file itself.  I asked Josh about doing this once before, but at least at that point, he wasn't sure how it was done.

Sorry.

I was informed by the author of e-Sword that what is available in the new NASB will only work for premium modules.  So it is a feature that has been disabled for user-made modules.

One would think there would have to be a workaround for that.  Especially if one had the ability of encrypting one's modules.

Oh well...

Thanks for the info. I think I will leave out the notes for the e-Sword version then. I really wonder what Rick's rationale is behind not enabling this for user-made modules.

Bit of a bummer, but it's not the end of the world.

Rob

I have asked him a couple times to release the spec's to the advanced bibles features

the only reason I can think of, it was a deal he made with the NASB people (BUT THAT IS MY OWN THOUGHTS)

study bible's would benefit greatly from these features one I can think of off had is the Newberry study bible

May God change our hearts to what the truth is

2Ti_2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

Rom_9:16 So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy.

2Ti 2:24-25  And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient, In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;

I, for one, wouldn't mind not having to have my NET, HCSB, NKJV, etc... commentary tabs taking up space if I could get a version that had them all in the bblx file.

Of course, that'd almost double the size of some bblx files, I'd wager.
