I would be willing to pay for an Android version of eSword for my Samsung Galaxy 8.9 tablet. I have tried so many Bible apps including MySword and still like eSword the best.  I want to be able to have access to my Bible app offline because at Bible study, camp, etc. wifi isn't available.

Is there an Android version of eSword or not?  if so, where can I get it?  I was afraid to go to iTunes and buy the HD version because that's for iPad and was afraid it might not work on Android.  If an Android version is not available yet, when will it be?

No, as yet there is no android version of e-Sword, and there has not been a hint that there will be one.  But then there was no hint that HD was coming for Ipads, so there is hope.

Thus says the LORD, "Let not a wise man boast of his wisdom, and let not the mighty man boast of his might, let not a rich man boast of his riches; but let him who boasts boast of this, that he understands and knows Me, (Jeremiah 9:23-24a)

"Defenders of the faith are inclined to be bitter until they learn to walk in the light of the Lord. When you have learned to walk in the light of the Lord, bitterness and contention are impossible." --Oswald Chambers, in Biblical Psychology from The Quotable Oswald Chambers.

Since MySword is filling the void on the Android system, as of a few months ago, there were no plans for an Android version of e-Sword.

Is there a way to convert an e-Sword Module into Mysword. I  need McClintock and Strong Cyclopedia of which the Mysword version is not working. Please help.

One would think that there will be an Android version of e-Sword coming. What with iPad sales dropping each year, and Android sales increasing to the point now where Android has over 51% of the tablet market. Let alone the fact that Apple has only a 1/4 of the smart phone market versus Android.

When it comes to e-Sword for Android, it seriously would not take much to create a version of it at all. Fact is, there is an easy, and I really do mean, easy to create a version of e-Sword without having to write a single line of code for it. Impossible you reckon. No! Not so at all.

Ladies, and gentlemen of all shapes and sizes, let me, if you haven't got it, and/or you ain't seen it or used it, introduce you to Microsoft latest take on Visual Studio 2015 (see screenshot below)

Visual Studio 2015 - New Project Dialog

Attached File  Visual Studio 2015 - New Project.jpg   86.52K   80 downloads

In the New Project dialog, that one can create a project for iOS and Android. Projects for these platforms can be written in C#, VB, and C++. Now, here comes the best part of it ... Taa Daa ... When it comes to, lets say, writing for iOS, that same code can be used for Android and MS mobile devices, and will work on those all three platforms.

OK, when it comes to Visual Studio 2015, both the Community (which I have) and the Express editions, they are free. The Community edition has more features than the Express edition. I think if Rick uses the Community Edition of VS, then it wouldn't take any work at all to spit out an Android version. Visual Studio 2015 (all editions) comes with Blend for VS., and with that writing live in XAML (pronounced as zamle) across all platforms is a real doozy.

I reckon that if Rick reads this, He be off at a trot, and download himself this program and in next to no time we would have e-Sword for Android. Well, I can only dream, but I won't hold my breath.

Blessings,

Blessings,

Just a slight correction to this response.

Visual Studio 2015 uses Xamerin with C# as the backbone for creating both Android and iOS software using Xamerin forms. Click here and watch the video to see how its done.

From the webpage regarding Xamerin:

Xamarin Developer Evangelist James Montemagno shows you how the Xamarin Platform enables developers to leverage their C# and .NET skills to create native mobile apps for iOS, Android, Mac, and Windows. With Xamarin, you use the same language, APIs, and data structures on every platform to build a single, shared C# codebase across all targets. Use your favorite IDE, Visual Studio, to build, design, debug, and deploy your iOS and Android applications.

Yep, MS does have an Evangelism type ministry outreach kind of program :D

Hello,

The last post on this topic seems to be about 10 months ago.  Has there been any movement or progress on an Android version?  As for the statement below

Since MySword is filling the void on the Android system, as of a few months ago, there were no plans for an Android version of e-Sword.

while I agree that mysword fulfills much of the same features, they do not offer premium content and to convert e-sword files to mysword is a cumbersome process e-sword--> theWord--->mysword.  In addition, they do not support the deutercanonical /apocrypha text in the main bible viewer.  They are available but only as books, which won't let you compare translations in a parallel form.

Please make an Android app

you may try MyBible, some screenshots attached

I found MyBible better than MySword in terms of bible ready and study, much stronger dictionary and window synchronization support, genuine free, Strong's no can be hidden like MySword, support Apocrypha, ...

but different layout to MySword, so need to spend time to get used to it ...

(two things people may not like MyBible: 1) do not have book modules 2) not good looking in design (but very powerful)

MyBible team is making great advancement in forthcoming 4.6, you may see discussion at http://www.biblesupp...oid/?hl=mybible

recent update from the team: MyBible 4.6 will support cognate group of Strong's numbers
