There is an old link to this resource that does not work. It is a tremendously insightful and useful resource - whether one is in full theological agreement or not.

I thought it was copyrighted? Dave uploaded it here, which I found via a google search: http://www.4shared.c...ily_Study_.html

This is the argument that Barclay is not under copyright. I did not write this and am forwarding this research.
CONCLUSION -- it looks to me like the 1956 version of this work is public domain. The 1964 version is under copyright.Capture1.JPG 83.48K 15 downloads Capture2.JPG 75.08K 18 downloads Capture3.JPG 45.42K 16 downloads
My research shows that it is not under copyright. Let me present 3 screenshots:
#1 - screenshot #1 shows the DSB NT complete series published in 1956 by Westminster Press. This places it in the 1923-1963 window that is so fun to try to figure out. It could be public domain if it was not renewed, or it would be under copyright until 2052 if legally renewed.
So, the next step is to check our copyright renewal databases.
#2 - screenshot #2 shows a search on "William Barclay" from the Stanford database. It shows 5 (out of 11 total hits) works by our particular "William Barclay". None of them are even close to "Daily Study Bible Series". According to Stanford, then, Barclay's DSB is public domain.
However, we need to check the Rutgers database as well. This is where the real fun starts.
#3 - screenshot #3 shows a search on "William Barclay" from the Rutgers database. It shows multiple hits, including one called Barclay's "daily Bible studies." It even has the right publishing house. However: check out the dates. This particular database entry shows it as being copyrighted in 1964, and renewed in 1992. Look at the dates again: copyrighted in 1964, renewed in 1992. This doesn't even fit the 1923-1963 window. Why is it listed by Rutgers? Ahh, that turns out to be the key question. Check out this paragraph from the Rutgers starting page:
This form searches the U. S. copyright renewal records. Any book published during the years 1923-1963 which is found in this file is still under copyright, as are all books published after 1964 (although until 1989 they still had to have proper notice and registration). Books published before 1923, or before Jan. 1, 1964 and not renewed, are out of copyright. This file does not contain listings for music, movies, or periodicals.
CONCLUSION -- it looks to me like the 1956 version of this work is public domain. The 1964 version is under copyright.
