I got the same error.  Did ESV change their website?

Yes, the website was changed ever so slightly but it was easily fixable. The version that is included now should do the trick.

Rob

I got the script to run on my Windows Vista (32 bit), and finally got it in the correct folder on my Droid, and got MySword to pull it up.

It is not stated above, but during your changes to keep the thing running, you changed the name from an .exe extension to a .pl (perl) extension.  Although it was my first run with perl, it wasn't too difficult for someone who became very familiar with DOS and has some programming experience.  Otherwise, this is not a user-friendly process, though, and no reason it should be right now.  Nevertheless, my biggest hurdles were:

1)  getting new bible modules into the Droid's folder (they were not at all where it said it would be).  It was also 100% necessary to load the ES File Explorer from Google play and was more of a MySword alteration issue, because my computer read the file locations somewhat differently and didn't see everything ES File Explorer did.

2) My final hurdle was getting through all the Display Options on the MySword app to get the references to display properly (as in your sample from Matthew 11).

Thank you and many blessings!

I got the same error as above about incorrect text but it was always a different chapter. I ran the script 5-6 times before it got all the way through the Bible without errors and quitting. But it was worth it. Thanks for putting this together for us!

Hi Rob,

Thanks for this.  I tried downloading the esvorg2mysword-20150209.zip attachment but I get an error that it doesn't exist on the server.  I would really like to download the ESV now that it has been updated and will not change in the future.  Can you look at fixing the download issue?

Glen

Hello, is the script still available and working?
The link in the post hits a dead end.
Other wise, any esv mysword modules?

The most probable reason for the link not working is due it resource page having been removed due to copyright issues.

Rick Meyers has permission to distribute the ESV (for free, but which he has to pay for the privilege) on e-Sword. The developers for MySword don't have that permission because they don't want to pay for that privilege.

With that said, there is nothing to stop you from developing your own copy of the ESV for MySword for your own use. And as long as you understand that, then you should be good to go.

Blessings,
