Hi All

I am working with a topic file that contains some references to other sections of the same file, such as "See Appendix 1".

I am trying to make those references clickable. So I made a bookmark of every section and then put some internal links to those bookmarks. I think the links are correctly done, since they appear in blue and underlined, and when I hover the mouse over them there's a tooltip that says Control-Click to go to the reference. However, clicking doesn't do anything.

I guess that's a limitation of e-Sword, that bookmarks work only inside the same topic, not in differente topics of the same file. Am I right? Is there a way to link to other sections of the same file?

Thanks!

Carlos

Hi, Carlos,

As currently constructed, eSword bookmarks/hyperlinking only works within the same chapter. It is not possible to move a hyperlink to a bookmark outside of the same chapter the hyperlink is in.

That feature does exist in theWord Bible software. It works beautifully.

Thank you, Dave.

I had the impression that was the problem, so I guess I have finished my module. :-)

Thanks!

The alternative might be the one adopted by the person who made the Companion Bible Revised, 1909 by E.W. Bullinger module it has a commentary (Companion Bible Notes by E. W. Bullinger) and a dictionary component  (Bullinger's Appendices) in e-Sword dictionary format. Select this dictionary from the e-Sword dictionary tab, and when you click on an Appendix in the e-Sword commentary, the appropriate appendix will appear in this dictionary.

You might want to check how they work together; it might prove to be a viable work around.  The modules are availible here

One commercial module (the NASB+ module which is part of the NASB module has both Strong's numbers and references to related verses (like a center line concordance), but I have never seen an explanation of how it is done.

If you don't have it you might want to invest $20 you can get it here

hi

The Companion Bible set - the Commentary has App1 = Double click on that and use the dict so the App1 will show up.  This works the same way as any Dict.  also check out my Study Bible set http://www.biblesupp...udy-bible-set/  .  I use the same concept with my commentary.

I have not tried it with a Topic.

thanks

Double clicking a word in a topic (and reference library) works the same way as it does in a commentary or Bible (I just ran a check.)

The main problem would likely be in coming up with a unique identifier for each reference or note.  One list of related verses could be used to do double duty for all verses on the list (though the reference would, unfortunately, include the verse being referenced) the alternative would require identifiers be generated (to use a three related verses scenario) a separate reference for each (verse A showing B and C, the reference for verse B would show A and C, and for C showing A and B ) as you can imagine the number of reference identifiers would rapidly become unmanageable.

Thanks, that is an interesting idea: building the appendices as a dictionary so that references can be clicked.

I have to evaluate whether the format swift has more advantages or disadvantages, butI will keep the idea for other projects.

Ebed Doulos, I will contact you privately. :-)

Thank you!

Carlos
