When converting from v7 modules to newer format, converter keeps asking me for password for modules. I have never put passwords on my modules. Can anyone help please?

Most of the files that ask for passwords are the official e-Sword files. When you've updated your e-Sword program, just start e-Sword, click on "download", then "Bibles", then select the files you want, and then click "download" and select "start."

It's a lot of steps, but it works.

In the past some users password protected their own module so that the content would not be changed. Most of those may have already been converted. If you do a search on this site you may find the module already converted and ready for download.

If they are premium modules you should contact the source you purchased them from. Please note that a few modules that were not premium in the past have now become so.

There was no way that I know of for a user to accidentally password protect previous modules, so it's nothing that you could have done with out knowing.

If you have a list of the modules you are experiencing questions with you could post them and someone here can probably give you more help

There was a user-created utility program that would automatically password protect resources, when one saved them.

Hi Jonathon,
You're correct. The program was written by the same bloke who created MEd program, but had to take it down because of copyright issues with e-Sword, or something like that.

This sounds like the user would have knowledge they were doing so though, correct?

No. The program automatically password protected the resource. No user choice.

Was this a user installed program?

What was/is the program's name?

Hi Scribe,
From my side of the fence, I don't remember the name of that program. But I do know that its not available, and I have to say neither would the author be willing to give anyone a copy of it.

Craig is an honorable brother and respects the wishes of Rick Meyers, and as such would do nothing that would violate any part of e-Sword's copyright and license agreement.

P.S. I'm bound to get another dislike on this post :( Oh well.. the only thing I can say about that is:

No body loves me,

Everybody hates me

I'm going to eat some worms, etc.

It was installed by the user. The stated function was to create/edit e-Sword resources.
It did not edit password protected resources.
I don't remember if it password protected resources upon closing the resource, or upon saving it.
Either way, the password protection was automatically applied.
