The Life of Knowles Shaw, also Known as the Singing Evangelist

This book was written in 1869 about a man who had traveled the United States bringing souls to Jesus Christ. Knowles Shaw often used singing as part of his evangelistic outreach. When he would preach, if he noticed that some weren't paying attention, he would break out in song (one that went with the message he was preaching).

Knowles Shaw is most famous for being a song-writer. Among his most popular compositions are "Bringing in the Sheaves," "Tarry With Me," and "We Saw Thee Not."

This book also contains some of his songs and poetry throughout the narrative.

Knowles Shaw was killed in a train wreck. His final words were "It is a grand thing to rally people to the cross of Christ." His final act was sacrificing himself, shoving someone to safety and giving his life in the process.

Truly this is a man who embodied the spirit of Christ.
