Hello Stephen,

I think that would be great. I think that it would also be difficult. The mobile software is evolving at such a rapid rate it takes a lot of dedication and resources to keep up with it.

I have a dream that Bible software developers could partner together. For example, MySword was inspired by their use of pocket e sword and when they saw that pocket e sword was not being developed any further, they picked up the ball and developed MySword. Pocket e sword was amazing. It was the best mobile software available. MySword took some of those ideas and developed software for android that is already way beyond where pocket e sword ever was as far as features and usability go. It would be great if someone like Rick or Costas would see this and would try to partner with them and with developers for other platforms.

It would be amazing if a person could purchase a resource and be allowed to obtain it for e sword or theWord or whatever PC software and also use it in a mobile software platform. However, I doubt Christian publishers would ever allow this to happen. I have learned they have different objectives. If you do not have a lot of money up front they will not even talk to you in most cases. They will not give someone like MySword with little or no resources the time of day. Money talks.

It would even be great if those who purchased resources in pocket e sword could be allowed to get them for MySword and maybe some software for Ipads and Iphones. I doubt this would ever happen either.

Even if Rick or Costas decided to partner with other developers, I doubt that the Christian publishers would be supportive of it.

Those are just a few thoughts on the subject...

Blessings,
Peter

I am sure those using pocket E-Sword would love to see it added, but the big difference is it is a program that is dead, E-Sword and My-Sword is not, if you have the time it would be nice to expand to E-Sword, but I have to ask do you guys really have the extra time to take away from the work you are doing?

Only you guys can answer that! I gave up my pda to move to Mysword and I am glad I did, Pocket Sword folks maybe in the same boat.

Right, Pocket e-sword is dead. Windows Mobile/ Windows 7 Phone is dead. Anything Windows mobile is dead, relative to the marketcap and market share. Android and Apple have taken over the mobile market, and all Microsoft can do now is file lawsuits to try to slow the momentum (and that's failing too). For Android, I like MySword. For iPad, I like OliveTree.

But we're not in the business of making Bible software. So we won't be taking away from any work we're doing and going down that rabbit hole. :)

Dell Axim X5 was what I owned about 10 years ago. Now I own an iPhone and a Macbook Pro. Would like to see it on the iOS devices, but doubt it will ever be made. My favorite for iOS and OSX is Accordance.

To an extent, that is what The Sword Project is about.

That was the promise of the STEP file format. To a much lesser CROSS file format offers the same thing. At the practical level, OSIS does offer that.

Even if Rick or Costas decided to partner with other developers, I doubt that the Christian publishers would be supportive of it.

Their fear is lost sales due to piracy.

Here's the new Pocket e-Sword forum...

Sorry, I'm not quite following you. We can offer Best for download (and we do), but we can't offer the premium for download. If that doesn't answer your question, just let me know.

josh

I saw all the files you uploaded, looking good, this section is off to a great start. I added the standard "How do I view..." section to the pocket e-sword file display, like other bible formats show. I also put the bold, green header at the top of the file display, indicating it's a Pocket e-Sword Resource and a link to Rick for more information.

Hi Davidt,

Welcome to www.biblesupport.com. Unfortunately it is not possible to convert pocket e sword bibles or other modules to MySword. E sword modules can be converted to MySword, but only non official unencrypted modules. Publishers do not allow conversion of copyrighted material from one software to another.

There are no current plans for MySword to acquire the rights to sell copyrighted Bibles.

Blessings,
Peter

Hi Pete,
Now , that mate, is a real pity. I was keen on getting MySword, but not having any premium resources available for it is a real turn off. But then again, there's always Black Beard LOL

With Windows fighting back through the likes of Nokia 610 and a greater effort in view, is there any chance of e-Sword for Windows 7.5?

Just changed from Palm Treo running Windows Mobile and have had e-Sword on it and my Laptop for years. Love it and really sad I can't use it on my new phone.

I'd like to see e-Sword available for iPhone 4 - I'm using many other programs for my various needs but an e-Sword appplication would be wonderful.
I use it on my PC and have almost 2.5GB of material, but would like to have it in portable format.
Thanks, Pastor Gary
