Like Exscentric I have used e-Sword on Windows 8.1 without issue.  The software has minimal hardware/software requirements (taken from the e-Sword site):

 

system requirements:

• Windows XP, Vista or Windows 7/8
• Pentium based PC (or equivalent)
• 800 x 600 resolution or greater

 Also like Exscentric I don't like module .exe installers.  I extract the module using 7-zip and "manually" place it in my e-Sword resource folder.

Like Exscentric I have used e-Sword on Windows 8.1 without issue.

 

Considering I've been now using Windows 8.1 for about a tad over a month, and have been running e-Sword without any issues.

 

Windows 8.1 is a good operating system, as it is really fast. Well on my system it is considering its running on 16GB of RAM and running off a Solid State Drive (which can be likened to a massive USB Pen drive), which makes loading time only a matter of just a very few seconds, something like maybe 3 or 4 seconds. Too fully boot (which is from POST (Power On Self Test)), to log-on screen, would take about (a rough guess) maybe 7 or 8 seconds if that. So, on that basis, I really can't complain.

 

As a matter of interest, on my PC I do not use a touch monitor as its not a very ergonomic friendly thing to do (H&S conscious thing this), and am very much a mouse and keyboard user working from a PC. That was just a side not/issue I thought I'd throw in.
