Anyone have any suggestions? I am running Windows XP.
Thanks very much and hope that this support site prospers. There is great help here for the novice as well as the seasoned bible teacher.

The problem is that when i am downloading my computer cannot open the file to move it into my eSword file folder. It tells me that it cannot recognize the file type, so it is effectively not being downloaded at all. I have plenty of other graphics files in my program, but these cannot be added due to an unrecognized format. Any suggestions? Are you clicking on the graphic viewer (mountains with sun on the right end of the menu)?
Thanks for any help.

George

If it is .exe file you double click on it and it should install.
If that doesn't help, list the file names that you are having problems with and one of us should be able to help.

Oh ok, I think you downloaded a mapx file that isnt' self installing. Copy the mapx file you downloaded toThe file name is .mapx and my computer doesn't know what to do with it. I already have a bunch of the maps available and had no problem downloading before, but trying to open them once they are downloaded so as to install them into the eSword program is the problem.
Thanks for you help.
George
c:\program files\e-Sword
or (depending on which version of Windows you have)
c:\program files (x86)\e-sword
I did not upload any of the maps, so none of them are self-installing. I need to go through that whole section and make all the maps self installing.

George,May I ask another question in this same thread? Is there a way to re-organize the bibles in my eSword so that they are in alphabetical order from the top? thanks
George
Another very common question. And it made my list of things I'd like to see changed. There's not an easy way to do this.
You can rename the bblx files (the bible files) in your e-sword folder, but it's time consuming and confusing. For example, if you put a Z in front of the KJV.bblx, it will move the KJV bible to the end of the top row (not the beginning). To get it to the beginning of the row, depends on what else is on that row. It's such a confusing process for the end user, I'm reluctant to even bring it up.

Thank you Josh, for both of your answers. I will try the mapx install like you suggested and will wait on the other for some day when I have nothing better to do and try rearranging my bibles, ha,ha,ha

We are in the process of moving, so that will be a long time from now, and likely never, if you know what I mean?
I appreciate this forum and the whole site. Thanks for picking up where eSword Users left off.

I did exactly what you told me to do with the mapx files and they all are there in my program now. Thanks again so much for the help!

George
