Hi,

CMT files are for e-Sword 8. CMTX files are for e-Sword 9 and 10. Did you download a CMT file and try to use it in e-Sword 9 or 10?

OK, your information is pretty scant as you don't tell us what version of e-Sword you're using or anything like that. So this just leaves us up to trying to guess what is your problem, and I'm just going to do that and hope the solution is correct.

If your are using a version of e-Sword that is later than 8x, cmt files are not compatible with version 9 and above. All their files have have four characters in the filename extension. Therefore you need do download a cmtx file, e.g., Barnes.cmtx or something of that nature.

If that is not the case, then where on your hard drive are you downloading it too? Is the file you're downloading an executable or zip file which either needs to be installed or unzipped?

If none of these are the situations, then please furnish all information so that we are able to give you the help you need.

I always have problems when downloading cmt files. It does not appear on my e-sword.

  • e-Sword 9.x and e-Sword 10.x use cmtx files;
  • e-Sword 8.x and lower use cmt files;
  • Pocket e-Sword uses cmt files. (These files are incompatible with e-Sword.);
Are you downloading the appropriate resource type for the version of e-Sword you are using?

If you are, then:
  • Where are you downloading the files to?
  • How are you installing the files?
  • Have you installed any other commentary files with a similar name?
  • Have you installed any other commentary files with the same abbreviation?

To download commentary files for 9/10, you can go here: http://www.biblesupp...3-commentaries/

I suggest though that when you get through downloading the ones you want, that you upgrade to e-Sword 10.1.0. All the modules that work with 9 work with 10. But with the new upgrades found in 10, there are a few 10 modules (and there will be more as time progresses) that do not work with 9.

On the eSU site I had in my signature "the same thing said a different way sparks the understanding" this thread is the epitome of that quote

May God change our hearts to what the truth is

2Ti_2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

Rom_9:16 So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy.

2Ti 2:24-25  And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient, In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;
