For whatever reason, I thought that this commentary was written in Coptic as opposed to Arabic. Not that it matters, as I am totally ignorant of Coptic, can barely order a soda in Arabic (Ana ows wahid Diet Coke, min fudluk), and can read neither. That said, I've heard that this commentary was a good one and I am hoping to find an English translation.

Actually it's written in Arabic.
And yes, it is one of the best Arabic commentaries.
I don't think there is an English translation for it.
Coptic is used mainly for some prayers in churches
Arabic is used for everyday life, and for such writings.
That's a good Arabic sentence by the way

When I was in Egypt a couple of decades ago, I would slip in the back to attend services at a small Coptic church. I love the hymns. The Orthodox Church in Egypt (and I understand that Pope Shenouda III presided over an expansion that inclded the Americas before he recently passed) became

an interest at that point in time. But to be honest, it is a intermittent interest. This explains why I was taken unaware when I learned that the commentary was written in Arabic and not Coptic. I will just have to hope that someone translates it into English. I would love to see if/how the culture affects the perception of the scriptures. I think that would be fascinating.
