Hi Josh

I have read your Tooltip NT Guide and find it extremely useful. While most of the options in Tooltip NT are easy to understand, you mention many interesting points that save a lot of time.

I didn't find, however, any explanation about the "Trim RTF" feature in the Tools menu. I have tried that with different texts, but I don't see what it does. Could you or Brent please explain?

Thanks!

Carlos

It converts an "automatic" bulleted or numbered list to a "manual" bulleted or numbered list. When automatic, the bullets or numbers are automatically inserted and you cannot edit them. When manual, the bullets or numbers can be edited. The downside is it also removes images, and seems to change the formatting indention of lists (and not sure what else?). I had concerns about what else it might change? Another downside is you need to select each list manually to run the command?

One practical use of the command (and the only practical use I know of) is when you have a bulleted list, each bullet beginning with a verse. When you tooltip the document, the bullets next to the verses will turn green. If Trim RTF before tooltipping, the bullet (or number) in the list will not turn green.

I don't know what other practical uses Trim RTF has or what else it does to the text.

I added this "feature" for the reasons Josh has stated. Lists, when tooltipped, include the coloring and underlining in the bullet numbering scheme. Using the "trim" tool, removes the clues in the RTF that make a bulletted list automatic, so when tooltipped, the color stays with just the tooltip. Programmatically, what I do is take the RTF code, and put it into the old RTF control that T3 used, and put the RTF back out and put it into the new RTF control. So the old RTF control is doing the heavy lifting. I use this tool, only when I need it! :-)

So, that sounds like removing the fat from the cream, and putting in a meaner and leaner rtf format that doesn't affect anything else. Sounds good to me B)
