Came across a free PDF to Word converter that seems to work, I'm sure it's not perfect but it could help some people that might not have the $$ for this type of product.

The product is only available free for today (Jan 10, 2012) and it must be loaded into your computer today for it to work. Be sure to read the installation information on the download site.

It does have some advertising on it for an upgrade at a cost.

I have downloaded from this site before and been quite pleased. The only problem could be if your computer crashes then I don't think the install would work as it is linked to the one day some how.

"Wondershare PDF Converter 3.0.0 is a powerful PDF Converter that convert not only normal PDF files to Word documents, Excel spreadsheets, PowerPoint presentations, EPUB eBooks, Text files and HTML pages, but also encrypted PDF files which are protected from printing, editing, and copying."

Well let me address the questions before they're asked.

When you go to the download page, the large blue Download button is an advertisement for am unrelated Firefox add-on. That's not what your looking for.

You need to click on: Download Wondershare PDF Converter 3.0.0

It requires your email address to get a registration key.

It attempts to install various toolbars for your browsers installed--be sure to uncheck those options.

It's a glorified advertisement for the full version (which isn't necessarily bad, if it converts PDF's to Word well.) I am testing the conversion functionality now.

The converter itself is good. It handles tables, foreign languages (Greek, Hebrew), graphics, and other objects (like lines, arrows and drawn objects that aren't images). It outputs to Word 2010 format.

I like it.

Thanks for posting this. How does it compare (in your opinion) to OmniPage?

Apples and oranges. Omnipage is OCR software to recognize photographs of text (which is what a scanned PDF is).

This PDF converter extracts the text from a digitized PDF.

The Pro version, which you must pay for, claims OCR capabilities, but for $20, I fear what it would produce.

gotcha. So it is just for the digitized versions. That answers my question. I wonder if it hogs the computer memory while it converts....
