With the introduction of the chatbar, Chatrooms were created, however no one ever uses them. Should we set up a daily or weekly chatroom discussion? Maybe create a Q&A for beginners? I know I love to talk about e-Sword with other users and collectors of modules like myself. I would personally love to get to know some of the others that are on this site like I am. So please, put some suggestions out and maybe jump into the chatroom and invite a bunch of us and start a discussion of some kind.

Vaughn....
You raise a great point ! Perhaps at a certain time of day....and give a range of subject matter etc. . I think at one point Dr. Dave did something like this as a "one time thing". I'm not sure how that worked out for him....perhaps he may respond to that. I believe a few folks have done a one-on-one type of thing....maybe Josh can refer to a site log and give us some input on that as well. I'm like you Vaughn....I hate to see an excellent resource like this go to waste ! And particularly "Newcomers" it seems to me would benefit greatly from an advertized once a week session so everyone would know when to join in....it could grow from there...I believe.

If someone wants to lead a Q&A session for beginners, or any other audience, I will gladly promote your chat session on the front page, each resource download page, etc.

I don't know how many visitors Doctor Dave's experiment had.....

Ironically, I was just discussing this issue with Greg of PrayerRequest.com. He had the same type of chat we have on this site (Comet Chat) and he replaced it in favor of a more group oriented chat--trying to force people into more of the group chatrooms (he was also facing some server performance issues, as chat consumes a lot more resources than you would think). It was not well received, the chatroom was almost always empty, and people complained it wasn't as easy to talk to their friends privately as they had been doing. He ended up returning to a variation of the type of chat he had before so people would stop complaining and yes, his group chat is as empty as ours (I think he finally removed the group chat all together).

Bottom line, people seem to like private chats but not the group chats. But if you'll lead it, I'll promote it!

I have noticed in eSU, in My forum when it was open, and now in this forum, MOST people come to a site like this for one main reason for the modules they very rarely participate in the forums if you notice it's usually the same people in the conversations unless a question is being asked

which brings me to the chat room On my forum I scheduled a chat-room season much like what your describing only Dr. Dave showed up and if I remember he could not stay

it is not convenient for people to wait for a chat-room season to solve problems it's quicker and reaches more people to post a problem

The private chat is useful and could be used to start a Season with most people online at the time

But If there is one scheduled I will make it a point to be there

May God change our hearts to what the truth is

2Ti_2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

Rom_9:16 So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy.

2Ti 2:24-25  And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient, In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;

I brought this point up because I have application on my phone and computer that allows me to chat with others that play a game I play. So I thought maybe we should be able to do the same here.
