I have been asked to make a commentary from a website and could use any help I can get. The website for the commentaries is http://www.freebiblecommentary.org/. They are available in multiple languages and that was the other request was that they get made after the English commentary was made. Please let me know.

Vaughn,

If the commentary is uniformly formatted throughout, the conversion should be pretty easy. Unfortunately, the commentaries I've been working on lately are all over the place. For example, some begin the comments this way:

Acts 1:1 .....(verse)

Others this way:

Acts chapter 1
1:1 ...verse

Still others this way:

Acts chapter 1
1:1 ...comments

And my personal favorite:

comment, comment, comment (verse 1)

If it was all done one way (with the exception of the last one), then the formatting/conversion can be done pretty simply with Word.

Is the text for the beginning of each comment uniform throughout the commentaries? If so, post an example here and I'll see what I can do to help you with the proper find/replace options to make things easy.

Commentaries are easy to create if you've used a word processor before (as I'm sure you have).

The format is like this:

÷Genesis 1:1
Comments for genesis 1:1 go here.

÷Genesis 2:1-10
Comments for this section goes here.

You keep going until you have all the text in the right format. You can do this in Microsoft Word. Or just go ahead and download Tooltip3, since you will need it anyway. Tooltip 3 will take those ÷verse comments above and compile them into a module for you, automagically. Of course you'll also want to click the Tooltip button to turn verse references like Genesis 3:5 into Gen_3:5.
